Maruti Suzuki XL6 Gains Practical Upgrades Without Price Hike [Video]

Maruti Suzuki has introduced a set of new features to the XL6 MPV across all trims, with the updates revealed through brochures rather than a formal launch announcement. The Zeta, Alpha and Alpha Plus variants all benefit from the changes, which enhance both practicality and comfort.
On the outside, the MPV now comes with a factory-fitted rear spoiler as standard. Finished with contrasting black inserts at the edges, the spoiler adds a sportier look without disrupting the XL6’s premium design language. While subtle, the addition gives the rear profile more definition and aligns with the styling direction of newer Maruti Suzuki models.
Most of the updates focus on improving the passenger experience, particularly in the second and third rows. The second-row AC vents, which were earlier mounted on the ceiling, have now been repositioned behind the centre console. This setup, first seen on the updated Ertiga, improves accessibility while freeing up additional headroom for passengers.
Third-row passengers also gain dedicated AC vents with their own blower speed controls, placed on the right side for easier reach. This addresses a common limitation in three-row vehicles, where cooling for the rearmost occupants often lags behind the front and middle rows. With this change, the XL6 becomes more suitable for long journeys with all seats occupied.
Charging solutions have been upgraded with the addition of multiple USB Type-C ports across the cabin. Two fast-charging outlets are available for second-row passengers, while the third row also gets a pair of ports. This ensures that all occupants can charge devices simultaneously, an increasingly important factor for families on the move.
The cabin also gains a PM 2.5 air filter as standard, improving air quality inside the vehicle. This update is particularly relevant for urban buyers who contend with high levels of air pollution and adds to the XL6’s appeal as a family-oriented model.
Another change comes in the form of a small increase in dimensions. The XL6 is now 40 mm longer than before, with the extra length outside the car in the form of the bootlid spoiler. While this does not address one of the recurring criticisms of the MPV, where rear-most passengers found legroom inadequate for adult, it does make the MPV look more rounded from the rear.
Under the bonnet, nothing changes. The XL6 continues with the familiar 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 102 bhp and 136.8 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a five-speed manual gearbox and a six-speed torque converter automatic. The CNG option remains available as well, offering 87 bhp and 121.5 Nm, paired exclusively with a manual transmission.
Perhaps the most significant aspect of the update is that prices remain unchanged despite the added equipment. The XL6 continues to start at ₹11.94 lakh ex-showroom, with the additional features offered at no extra cost. This strategy enhances the value proposition of the MPV without compromising its competitive positioning.
Colour choices remain the same, with options including Nexa Blue, Opulent Red, Splendid Silver, Arctic White, Bluish Black, and several dual-tone finishes. Paint options are unchanged, which helps maintain consistency for existing customers while keeping the lineup familiar to prospective buyers.
These upgrades follow the recent step to make six airbags standard across the XL6 range, giving buyers added safety assurance alongside the comfort and convenience improvements. The quiet rollout of updates also reflects Maruti Suzuki’s strategy of gradually strengthening its products without the need for elaborate marketing campaigns.
By improving everyday usability, enhancing comfort for all rows, and maintaining pricing, the XL6 continues to position itself as a well-rounded family MPV in the premium space.
