Maruti Suzuki Swift has always been the top-selling car in India, and last year, the latest fourth-generation model was launched in India. The new Swift is also sold in many international markets. However, it is offered with features like ADAS, different alloy wheels, an all-wheel-drive system, and a few others. Recently, a completely undisguised test mule of the international-spec Swift was spotted testing in India. This suggests that the company could be launching this more premium version in India very soon.

Maruti Suzuki Swift with ADAS Spotted Testing

A new video on YouTube has been shared by True Car Advice on their channel. In this short video, a black-colored Swift was seen being driven on public roads without any camouflage. To the untrained eye, it may look like a standard fourth-generation Swift. However, upon closer inspection, it can be noted that this Swift has a few different elements.

The main one is the ADAS radar at the front grille. It is located just underneath the Suzuki logo at the front. This is the same front end that is seen on the Japanese and European-spec Swift. Both of these markets, along with others, get the model, which offers numerous ADAS features. Its list includes adaptive cruise control, Adaptive High Beam Assist, and Lane Keep Assist.

It also gets Automatic Emergency Braking, a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, a 360-degree camera system, a driver monitoring system, and others. If Maruti ends up bringing the Swift with ADAS to India, it will become the second model in India from the brand to get this safety feature. The recently unveiled eVitara electric SUV will become the first model to come with ADAS from the brand.

Other Differences of This Test Mule

Apart from this, another unique element noted on this test mule is the presence of new alloy wheels. These are the same 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels seen on the international-spec model. Another small detail is that the Swift logo on the tailgate of this test mule was on the right. The Indian model gets the Swift badge on the left side.

Indian vs Japanese Swift: What’s Different?

In addition to the above-mentioned differences, the Japanese Swift also gets a ton of other additions. The main one is that the Japanese model comes with a CVT gearbox. In India, Maruti offers the new Swift with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox option. Suzuki also offers its All Grip all-wheel-drive system in the Japanese Swift.

Over the years, Maruti Suzuki has never offered the Swift in India with an all-wheel-drive system. What is also unique to the European and Japanese-spec Swift is that it comes equipped with a mild hybrid system, which enhances fuel efficiency. Lastly, the Japanese model also comes with heated seats.

When Can We Expect Its Launch?

At the moment, the exact details on the launch date of the new Swift have not been shared by the brand. However, most likely, it could be launched this year. Pricing-wise, expect to see a bump over the current model’s price. Presently, the Swift in India starts at Rs 6.49 lakh and goes up to Rs 9.6 lakh.

As for the powerplant, the Swift in India is sold with a 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine generates 82 Bhp and 112 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options of the new Swift include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox.
