Maruti Suzuki And Toyota To Launch 7 Electrified Cars This Year: Details

Maruti Suzuki and Toyota have an ongoing partnership that enables both of them to sell rebadged versions of each other’s models. This year, Maruti and Toyota will launch as many as 7 electrified cars and SUVs in the Indian market. The proposed lineup includes all-electric models and hybrids. Let’s dive into the details:
The eVitara will be Maruti’s first EV for the Indian market and will hit the market this year. The production form was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. It offers two battery pack choices: 49kWh and 61kWh. The electric motor sits on the front axle and produces 143bhp and 173bhp depending on the battery pack. In both cases, the torque would be 193Nm. The 61kWh battery is claimed to offer a range of 500 km.
The EV has features like a 10.1-inch instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment system, a two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat., ventilation seats, Level 1 ADAS and 7 airbags.
Expected launch: March 2025
This will be the eVitara’s Toyota version. It will have the same mechanicals as the Maruti EV. The design, however, will differ significantly. It will have slimmer headlamps, a Chrome bar that connects them, a different grille design, and a bumper with two vertical air vents. The prototype was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo earlier this year. It remains to be seen how much of it would make it to the production-spec. This EV will have the same powertrain choices as the eVitara- 49kWh and 61kWh battery packs along with single-motor setups.
Expected Launch: Second half of 2025, festive season
Toyota is working on a 7-seater version of the Hyryder SUV. Toyota hasn’t revealed the launch timeline yet. It could be around the end of 2025. The design will borrow heavily from that of the 5-seater counterpart. It will, however, be longer and will have more space inside. The cabin will resemble that of the outgoing Hyryder. The new model will have more features like ADAS (advanced driver assistance system), electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, etc.
The 7-seater Hyryder will have the same set of engines as the 5-seater. This means that it will also get a strong and mild hybrid version as well. The strong hybrid gets an electrified 3-cylinder Atkinson cycle petrol engine. It will have an e-CVT transmission.
Expected Launch: Probably the end of 2025
Maruti Suzuki is readying a 7-seater version of the Grand Vitara. The project is internally codenamed Y17, and is currently being tested extensively. Like the 7-seater Hyryder, the 3-row Grand Vitara will also have mild and strong hybrid engines. These electrified powertrains will make it stand out. The 7-seater Grand Vitara will be a rebadged version of the 7-Seater Hyryder. It will, however, have distinctive styling elements and cabin colourways.
Expected Launch: Late 2025
Maruti Suzuki is already testing the new Fronx hybrid in India. With no major styling changes to be expected, the key highlight of the new Fronx will be its series hybrid powertrain. This will be developed by Maruti Suzuki and will use the internal combustion engine as its generator. It will power the battery that further drives the electric motors. It is just the electric motors that are connected to the wheels. Series hybrids are a lot more efficient than traditional hybrids.
Expected Launch: 2025
The Taisor is essentially the Toyota-badged version of the Fronx. We expect Toyota to launch its version of the hybrid Fronx after it hits the market. It will have the same powertrain and mechanicals as the hybrid Fronx. Like the outgoing Taisor and Fronx, the hybrids would also differ with their interior and exterior designs.
Expected Launch: 2025
The Fortuner has a mild hybrid powertrain in South Africa. This Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV) powertrain will use a 2.8L diesel engine mated to a 48V setup that can add 16bhp and 42 Nm to the total output. Toyota had previously introduced this powertrain on the Hilux as well. The MHEV powertrain will be able to generate 500 Nm, and will come mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. There will be both 2WD and 4WD on offer. The new vehicle will come with features like a 360 degree camera and ADAS as well. The MHEV engine is claimed to be 5% more fuel efficient than the regular SUV.
Expected Launch: First Half of 2025
