Cheaper Maruti Suzuki Victoris Offers Much More Than The Grand Vitara: Details

Maruti Suzuki now has two models in the compact SUV segment- the Victoris and the Grand Vitara. The former is sold through Arena showrooms, while the latter is a NEXA product. The two SUVs have a lot in common, including the platform and powertrain choices. Even inside the cabin, the Victoris and Grand Vitara have several common features. These, however, stand out with their pricing and market positioning. Despite being significantly cheaper, many variants of the Victoris offer more than the corresponding variants of the Grand Vitara.
The Victoris is offered in seven broad trims- Lxi, Vxi, Zxi, Zxi(O), Zxi+, and Zxi+(O), and 21 variants. There are three different engines on offer- 1.5L mild hybrid petrol, 1.5L strong hybrid petrol, and CNG. The Grand Vitara comes in 34 variants spread across 8 trims- Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Zeta (O), Alpha, Alpha (O), Alpha AllGrip, and Alpha Allgrip (O).
Most variants of the Victoris sit below the corresponding variants of the Grand Vitara, with their prices. The Grand Vitara starts at Rs 11.42 lakh, ex-showroom, and goes up to Rs 20.68 lakh. The Victoris, on the other hand, has a starting ex-showroom price of Rs 10.49 lakh.
The top-spec has an ex-showroom price of Rs 19.98 lakh. The base variant of the Grand Vitara is Rs 93,000 more expensive than the entry-level Victoris. The price difference between range-topping variants is Rs 70,000.
The mid-spec variants have the biggest price differences. The ZXi MT variant of the Victoris has an ex-showroom price of Rs 13.57 lakh. The Zeta MT variant of Grand Vitara costs Rs 14.67 lakh, ex-showroom. The price difference is Rs 1.1 lakh. The difference between the prices of Victoris ZXi (O) MT (Rs 14.08 lakh) and Grand Vitara Zeta (O) MT(Rs 15.27 lakh) is Rs 1.19 lakh. Despite being cheaper, the range-topping variant of the Victoris offers more features than the Grand Vitara.
The two SUVs share a lot of their equipment. However, the Victoris has an edge over the Grand Vitara as it comes with features like a powered tailgate with gesture control, level 2 ADAS, and premium 8-speaker Infinity Speakers with Dolby Atmos. The Grand Vitara’s digital instrument cluster is a 7-inch unit. The Victoris, on the other hand, comes with a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display.
The electric tailgate is offered on the Zxi, Zxi (O), Zxi+, and Zxi+ (O) variants. The Grand Vitara doesn’t get this feature on any of its variants. On the Grand Vitara, the 7-inch TFT instrument cluster is offered from Zeta trim onwards. The Victoris gets the all-digital display on the Zxi, Zxi (O), Zxi+, and Zxi+ (O) variants. The Vxi trim, however, has it only on the strong hybrid variants.
Maruti Suzuki has kept the 8-speaker premium audio system with Dolby Atmos 5.1 Surround Sound and the level 2 ADAS exclusive to the Zxi+ and Zxi+ (O) variants. The ex-showroom prices of these variants range from Rs 17.19 lakh to Rs 19.47 lakh. The Zxi+(O) MT variants start at Rs 15.82 lakh, ex-showroom.
The Grand Vitara Alpha (O) MT has an ex-showroom price of Rs 16.74 lakh- Rs 92,000 more than the Victoris. Even the fully loaded variants of the Grand Vitara feature a 6-speaker Clarion audio system.
Now, let’s see what features are offered on the mid-spec variants of these SUVs, which offer the biggest difference in ex-showroom prices. It comes with features like rear wiper/washer, ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate with gesture control, wireless charger, C+C USB ports, and more.
The Zeta (O) variant of the Grand Vitara gets the likes of rear sunshades, panoramic sunroof, wireless charger, and more. The equipment array is almost identical.
