Maruti yesterday unveiled their all-new flagship SUV in the Arena lineup. The SUV is called Victoris, and it is not wrong to call Victoris Grand Vitara’s cousin. They have many things in common. While both Maruti Suzuki Victoris and Grand Vitara are based on the same platform, the manufacturer has made sure that they have their own identity. As part of this differentiation, Maruti Victoris offers more features. Here are 10 things that Victoris offers over the Grand Vitara:

Level 2 ADAS

Maruti Victoris is the first product in the Arena lineup to get Level 2 ADAS. The Grand Vitara, which is a mid-size SUV, misses out on this feature. The Level 2 ADAS in Victoris consists of features like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, and blind-spot monitoring.

Dimensions

As we mentioned above, the Maruti Victoris and Grand Vitara are based on the same platform, but Maruti has designed the Victoris in such a way that it has come out as a bigger car. The Grand Vitara is 4,345 mm long, 1,795 mm wide, and 1,645 mm tall. The Victoris, on the other hand, is 4,360 mm long, 1,765 mm wide, and 1,655 mm tall. Victoris is slightly taller and longer than the Grand Vitara. The wheelbase remains the same in both SUVs.

Bigger Boot

As the Maruti Victoris is a bigger car in terms of length, the boot space on this SUV is also likely to be more than the Grand Vitara. Maruti has not released the official numbers, but it is expected to be more than the 373 litres seen on the Grand Vitara.

Underbody CNG Tank

Another feature in Victoris is the underbody CNG tank. Maruti Suzuki has come up with this segment first innovative idea where the CNG tank is placed under the body of the car instead of the usual spot in the boot. While this feature is expected to be carried forward to other models, for now Maruti offers this with Victoris only.

Better Fuel Efficiency

Although both Grand Vitara and Victoris use the same engine and gearbox, Maruti has tuned the engine in such a manner that the Victoris offers better efficiency. The Grand Vitara Mild Hybrid MT & AT offers a claimed ARAI efficiency of 21.11 kmpl and 20.58 kmpl respectively. The strong hybrid version of the Grand Vitara offers 27.97 kmpl as per ARAI.

Now, the same engine in Victoris offers 21.18 kmpl in the mild hybrid manual and 21.06 kmpl with the automatic. The strong hybrid variant has a claimed efficiency of 28.65 kmpl. The Grand Vitara CNG offers 26.6 km/kg while the Victoris offers 27.02 km/kg.

Powered Tailgate

This is another feature that is first for the Maruti Suzuki Arena lineup. The Victoris gets a powered tailgate with gesture control, which makes opening the boot easy when you have your hands full.

Premium Sound Experience

The Grand Vitara comes with a 4-speaker and 2-tweeter setup from Clarion. However, the Victoris takes things to the next level. It gets an 8-speaker sound system from Infinity by Harman integrated with Dolby Atmos 5.1 Surround Sound.

Alexa Auto

Apart from the usual connected car features, Maruti is also offering in-built Alexa Auto with the Victoris. Using this voice assistant feature, you can not only control features in your car but also at your home.

Bigger Touchscreen

Maruti Suzuki has redesigned the cabin to give it a fresh look and, as part of the change, the touchscreen infotainment system has also grown in size. The Victoris gets a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, while the Grand Vitara comes with a smaller 9-inch unit.

Bharat NCAP

Maruti Suzuki also announced during the event that the Victoris has undergone Bharat NCAP crash tests and has achieved a 5-star rating. This is also a first for an SUV from Maruti Suzuki. The Grand Vitara has not undergone any such tests yet.
