Mercedes Benz EQS 580 Celebration Edition Electric Luxury Sedan Launched At Rs. 1.3 Crore

To mark a key moment in its electric vehicle journey, Mercedes-Benz has introduced a special version of its flagship electric sedan, the EQS 580 Celebration Edition. Priced at Rs. 1.3 crore (ex-showroom), this variant not only celebrates the brand’s expanding EV portfolio in the country but also reflects its push to offer luxury with exclusivity. The model will be limited to just 50 units, highlighting its premium positioning and limited availability.
At first glance, the Celebration Edition might look like a regular EQS 580, but a closer look reveals a few aesthetic and packaging distinctions. The key visual difference lies in the availability of a unique exterior colour called ‘Alpine Grey’. This finish, not offered on the standard EQS in this market before, brings a more understated, almost matte-like visual tone to the car’s smooth, coupe-like silhouette.
The car also wears 20-inch AMG five-spoke alloy wheels that enhance its sporty stance. While the mechanicals remain unchanged, Mercedes has made it clear that the Celebration Edition is targeted at buyers who want to stand apart, even in a niche luxury EV segment.
The core of the Celebration Edition remains identical to the standard EQS 580 4MATIC, which means it is built on Mercedes’ dedicated EV platform, the EVA2. It continues to be powered by a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup producing 523 bhp and 855 Nm of torque. This results in a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of 4.3 seconds, remarkable for a vehicle of its size and weight.
The 107.8 kWh lithium-ion battery offers a claimed range of up to 857 km on the ARAI cycle, although real-world range typically settles around the 600–650 km mark, depending on usage. Fast charging support remains a strong point, with the car capable of taking in up to 200 kW via DC charging.
On the inside, the highlight continues to be the MBUX Hyperscreen that stretches across the dashboard. It merges three displays into one massive, curved glass panel, offering both driver and passenger touchscreen interfaces and AI-driven features. The Celebration Edition retains all the top-tier creature comforts such as Burmester 3D sound, massage seats, active ambient lighting, and a high-spec air filtration system.
Mercedes-Benz has crossed a significant milestone with its electric car strategy and the timing of this edition underlines its confidence in the segment’s growth. With over 1,000 units of the EQS 580 already sold in the country, this model is among the more successful large luxury EVs here.
Introducing a limited-run variant at a relatively modest price bump compared to the standard car helps Mercedes reinforce the EQS brand without diluting its core appeal. For buyers, it offers a subtle way to distinguish their car from the standard versions without opting for full-blown customisation.
Moreover, the EQS has carved out a unique identity in the electric luxury space. Its blend of comfort, performance, and tech is hard to replicate at this price point. The Celebration Edition attempts to strengthen that image further without tampering with the formula.
It is easy to dismiss such limited editions as mere marketing exercises, but in this case, Mercedes seems to have hit a practical balance. The Alpine Grey paint and AMG wheels are tasteful additions that do not upset the car’s luxury ethos. The mechanicals remain untouched, which is good news, since the standard car was already loaded to the brim with performance and features.
Given the EQS’ flagship status, the Celebration Edition feels like a natural extension rather than an afterthought. It reflects the brand’s intent to keep its EV lineup fresh while continuing to cater to a clientele that expects exclusivity, not just efficiency.
