MG Cloud EV’s India Launch Timeline Revealed

MG Motor India is preparing to expand its electric vehicle lineup with the introduction of the premium MG Cloud EV. Although the company hasn’t officially announced the exact launch date, reports suggest that the EV could be launched sometime in September.
The MG Cloud EV will be a more premium offering than the existing MG ZS EV. Additionally, the car will target a different set of customers than the ZS EV. The Cloud EV features will feature a stylish and modern exterior design.
Some of the design elements of the EV include LED lighting, flush door handles, and a sleek roofline that adds to its sophisticated look. The car will measure 4.3 meters in length.
Inside, the Cloud EV will offer a luxurious cabin with a range of high-end features. It is expected to come equipped with a 360-degree camera system, dual digital screens, climate control, connected car technology, and Level 2 ADAS driver assistance.
Additionally, the cabin will offer electrically adjustable seats and a sunroof. The interior won’t have any physical buttons except the steering mounted controls.
Under the hood, the MG Cloud EV is likely to be powered by a 50.6 kWh battery pack paired with an electric motor. This setup is expected to deliver a driving range of up to 460 kilometers, depending on the variant.
The expected price for the MG Cloud EV is to be between Rs 25-28 lakh, making it a strong contender against other electric vehicles like the BYD e6. This competitive pricing, along with its feature-rich package, suggests that MG is targeting the new-age chauffeur-driven segment, offering a premium and eco-friendly alternative.
The test mule of the MG Cloud EV has been spotted multiple times. This new EV by MG is based on the Wulling Cloud EV, sold in Indonesia.
The upcoming Cloud EV will join MG Motor India’s existing electric vehicle lineup, which includes the Comet EV and the ZS EV. These models have already established MG’s presence in the Indian electric vehicle market, and the addition of the Cloud EV is expected to further strengthen their position.
MG has announced a price hike for its existing electric models, the MG Comet EV and the MG ZS EV. The price for the ZS EV is increased by Rs 25,000, bringing the new price range to Rs 18.98 lakh to Rs 25.44 lakh.
Meanwhile, the MG Comet EV has seen a smaller price hike of up to Rs 13,000, with the revised range starting at Rs 6.99 lakh and reaching up to Rs 9.53 lakh. Some sources suggest that MG will also be launching a 5-door SUV based on the Baojun YEP Plus alongside the Cloud EV.
Coming back to the Cloud EV, it will be MG Motor’s most expensive electric vehicle. The electric crossover will serve as the flagship offering of the Sino-British brand, whose Indian arm now has an Indian – JSW – owning a significant stake.
