MG Cyberster Launched In India At Rs 74.99 Lakh

Bringing the wait to a close, Morris Garages (MG) has launched the Cyberster electric sports convertible in India. The EV comes in just a single variant, with an ex-showroom price of Rs 74.99 lakh. Dealers across India have been receiving their display and demo cars in the past weeks. MG will sell the Cyberster through its newly established 'Select' retailer network.
The Cyberster will impress you with its design. It is offered in four colour options- Inca Yellow, Ivory White, Diamond Red, and Andes Gray. This electric sportscar takes inspiration from the original MG B roadster from the 60s. It gets a soft top and scissor doors which can be operated with the press of a few buttons. These pack a lot of drama, and MG has even given radar sensors on the doors, so that they don't hit against things or get them crushed.
The Cyberster is a two-seater electric roadster. It rides on ----20-inch ----alloy wheels. Other key cues of this design are a split diffuser, powerful LED headlamps, sporty side skirts, unique rear design, connected LED tail lamps which are shaped like arrows. The body has a lot of well-drawn character lines and sleek surfacing. There seems to be a strong focus on aerodynamic efficiency.
The Cyberster's cabin features a driver-focused, minimalist design. It gets a flat-bottom steering wheel with integrated controls. Atleast four screens can be seen inside- two 7-inch auxiliary displays, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a vertically oriented 7-inch infotainment screen.
Features like dual-zone climate control, auto-dimming IRVM, wireless charging, ambient lighting with selectable colours, ventilated and powered seats, and an 8-speaker BOSE audio system are also offered. In addition to these, the EV also gets a level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) suite.
The Cyberster offers just a single battery pack in India- the 77 kWh unit, paired with a dual-motor setup. This battery pack has been packaged so well that its thickness stands at just 110 mm! For reference, a soda can is 120mm tall! The Cyberster's battery is in fact, slimmer than those found on Tesla and Volkswagen models, the thickness of which stands at 122mm and 140mm respectively.
AWD (All Wheel Drive) system is offered on this car. This is also the carmaker's fastest roadster yet and can do the 0-100 kph sprint in just 3.2 seconds! The powertrain output of 510 bhp and 725 Nm is to be thanked for this breathtaking performance. JSW MG Motor India claims a CLTC range of 580 km per charge, on this product.
MG has engineered the Cyberster's platform in a way that it suits its performance DNA well. The roadster gets a double-wishbone setup at the front and a five-link rear suspension. MG claims this to provide a sweet balance between sharp handling and the overall ride comfort. The Cyberster is also claimed to have a 50:50 weight distribution between its axles. This will further improve the handling and road manners.
The carmaker has been setting up its premium retailer chain in various cities, calling it the 'Select'. Many of the upcoming (premium) models from MG will be sold through these outlets. The M9 electric luxury MPV was the first 'Select' product to go on sale here.
These facilities intend to improve the overall purchase and ownership experiences. Initially, 12 'Select' dealerships will be set up. These will have a strong focus on the sale and after-sales care of new energy vehicles ( EVs, hybrids and more) and will have dedicated service sections and trained personnel. MG plans to set up more such showrooms in the coming months.
