The next big launch from MG Motor India will be the Cyberster electric sportscar. It will be sold through the MG Select dealerships. This new chain of dealer outlets will sell more premium and luxurious models from the manufacturer. Ahead of its official market launch, the MG Cyberster has been spotted on public roads without camouflage. These pictures show a car that wears what looks like an Ivory or a Cream colour. The vehicle was spotted rolling through the streets of Mumbai.

Pictures and videos of the car have now surfaced. These show a Cream-coloured Cyberster with a Red fabric top. MG is expected to launch a bunch of attractive colours on the convertible EV. We had seen a Red car at the debut and a Yellow at the Auto Expo. And now comes this- a classy Cream colour. The car wears GJ numberplates and is most likely a PR/marketing fleet car. MG is expected to conduct the official media drives of the Cyberster in the not-so-distant future.

The design of the Cyberster is inspired by the original MG B roadster from the 60s. The car would come with electrically operated scissor doors. These would come with radar sensors and anti-pinch technology. It will feature a two-seater design and a convertible soft-top. There is even a sealed nose and an air dam that swoops up. This creates the visual impression of what looks like a smiling face.

The India-spec Cyberster gets 19 or 20-inch wheels. The vehicle will also have a split diffuser, side skirts, bold-looking rear end with a connected LED strip and arrow-shaped tail lights. The car will offer more than one colour choice for its convertible fabric roof.

The India-spec sportscar will come with a 77kWh battery pack and an oil-cooled two-motor setup. There will thus be AWD on offer. The powertrain will be capable of delivering 510 hp and 725Nm. 0-100kph sprint is claimed to be done in just 3.2 seconds. The CLTC range could be around 580 kilometres per charge.

The suspension will get double wishbones at the front and a five-link setup at the rear. We expect it to deliver a smooth and comfortable ride along with balanced dynamics. The car is also claimed to feature a 50:50 weight distribution.

On the inside, the Cyberster gets a flat-bottom steering wheel with the octagonal ‘MG’ logo, a 10.25-inch driver’s display, two 7-inch screens, a waterfall-style central console, and controls for operating the soft top that sit below the touchscreen. The infotainment unit is vertically positioned. The buttons for HVAC control are touch-operated. The lack of physical controls for these is to be noted.

The electric sports car also comes with Adaptive Cruise Control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 360-degree parking camera. The Cyberster’s ADAS suite gets features like blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and front collision warning.

When launched in India, the MG Cyberster will likely have a price of around ₹60-80 lakh. It will compete with the likes of BMW Z4 and the Porsche 718 Boxster.
