MG Cyberster EV and M9 Electric MPV Unveiled In India

The British motoring brand JSW MG Motor India has unveiled its newest products, the sporty Cyberster EV and the luxurious MPV MG M9, in India. Both of these electric vehicles, catering to two very different client bases, will be sold in India via MG’s new “Select” outlets. MG has also announced that the Cyberster EV’s and M9 MPV’s bookings will commence in March of this year, and their deliveries will begin in April.

MG Cyberster EV Unveiled

First off, let’s talk about the most unique vehicle in the entire MG India lineup—the Cyberster EV sports car. This all-electric sports car boasts a traditional sports car design with a long bonnet, sharp body lines, sweptback LED projector headlights with LED DRLs, and a honeycomb-pattern lower front grille finished in gloss black.

It also gets iconic scissor doors that are electronically operated. Along with this, the Cyberster EV features a set of 20-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and black ORVMs with integrated turn indicators. As for the rear, the MG Cyberster EV gets two arrow-shaped LED taillights with a connecting light bar in the middle. It also comes with a wide rear diffuser.

In India, the MG Cyberster EV will be offered in four color options. The first is Dynamic Red, and the rest are Inca Yellow, Cosmic Silver, and English White. Additionally, the major highlight of this all-electric sports car will be its electrically operable roof.

Interior Design

Moving to the interior, the MG Cyberster EV gets a red-and-black color theme. Its dashboard features a triple-screen layout. There is a 7-inch digital instrument gauge cluster for the driver, a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, and a 7-inch touchscreen for AC controls. The entire dashboard is inspired by a fighter jet.

It also includes bucket-style seats, 6-way electrically adjustable seats with memory function, ventilation, and heating. The Cyberster EV comes with a sporty-looking multifunction flat-bottom steering wheel with integrated round dials for launch control and adjusting regeneration modes.

Other features of the MG Cyberster EV include an 8-speaker premium Bose audio system, 6 airbags, electronic stability control, a tire pressure monitoring system, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Its ADAS features include lane-keep assist, active emergency braking, and others.

Powertrain Details

In terms of the powertrain, MG is offering the Cyberster EV in India with a 77 kWh battery pack. It will come paired with dual electric motors. In total, this drivetrain will produce 510 PS of power and 725 Nm of torque. It will also offer an AWD system.

Thanks to this powertrain, the MG Cyberster EV will be able to go from 0-100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds. As for the range, despite its battery only measuring the same thickness as a soft drink can, it will be able to provide a range of 443 km on a single full charge. At the moment, MG has not announced the pricing of this EV sports car.

MG M9: Details

Apart from the Cyberster EV, the company has also showcased the M9 luxury electric MPV at the Bharat Mobility Global Auto Expo. This MPV measures 5.72m in length, 2m in width, 1.84m in height, and has a wheelbase of 3.2m. It is one of the longest full-size electric MPVs in India.

At the front, the MG M9 gets a sleek blanked-off front grille with trapezoidal air intake vents. It also features vertically stacked LED headlights and eyebrow-like LED DRLs. On the side profile, this EV MPV gets a boxy silhouette, sliding electric doors, and chrome accents. As for the rear, it comes equipped with wraparound LED taillights and a connecting light bar in the middle.

On the inside, MG is offering the M9 EV MPV with a beige-and-tan interior theme. At the front, it gets a floating touchscreen infotainment system and long-running AC vents. The M9 is being offered in 7- and 8-seater configurations. Its main highlights are the middle-section seats, which get ottomans that are electrically operated.

These seats also provide heating, ventilation, and massage functions. The M9 also gets a single sunroof for the front cabin, and there is a panoramic sunroof for rear-seat occupants. Its list of features includes a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a 7-inch digital instrument gauge cluster, rear entertainment screens, a wireless charger, an air purifier, and three-zone climate control, along with a 12-speaker premium audio system.

Powertrain Details

The MG M9 MPV will come equipped with a 90 kWh battery pack. It will draw its power from a single electric motor mounted on the front axle. It will make 245 PS and 350 Nm of torque. Despite its size, 0-100 km/h will happen in just 9.9 seconds, and it will offer a range of 430 km on a single full charge. At the moment the company has not revealed its pricing.
