MG Motor India has officially begun accepting bookings for its upcoming luxury electric MPV, the MG M9. Customers can reserve their unit with a token amount of ₹51,000 through MG’s premium Select dealership network or via the brand’s official website. This marks MG’s entry into the high-end electric MPV segment in India, with the M9 positioned as a new alternative to the likes of the Toyota Vellfire and Kia Carnival.

A New Shape for Electric Luxury

The MG M9 has been crafted with a bold, boxy silhouette that leans heavily into its MPV character. Stretching 5.2 metres long, 2 metres wide and 1.8 metres tall, with a 3.2-metre wheelbase, the vehicle carries serious road presence. The front fascia is dominated by a wide LED daytime running light and a large grille, while the rear gets connected LED tail lamps that add a sense of modernity and visual width.

Despite the focus on utility and passenger space, the exterior design manages to maintain an upscale and clean aesthetic, a critical factor in a segment where buyers often seek chauffeur-driven luxury.

A Cabin That Prioritises Passenger Comfort

On the inside, the M9 is configured as a proper seven-seater with two captain seats in the second row. These chairs get ottoman-style footrests and are equipped with heating, ventilation and even massage functions. The sense of luxury is further enhanced by dual-pane panoramic sunroofs, 64-colour ambient lighting, and rear entertainment screens.

Rear passengers also benefit from powered sliding doors for easier ingress and egress, a feature usually reserved for high-end MPVs. Up front, MG is offering an expansive dashboard layout and a tech-rich feature list, including multiple large screens and voice control options.

The safety package includes Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), bringing features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and forward collision warning, which make the M9 competitive against global offerings in its class.

Electric Powertrain and Claimed Range

Powering the MG M9 is an electric motor mounted at the front axle, producing 245 PS and 350 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 90 kWh battery pack, which delivers a claimed WLTP range of 430 km on a single charge. While official charging times are yet to be confirmed, the vehicle is expected to support both AC and fast DC charging, which has become a standard requirement for EVs in this segment.

Targeting a Niche Yet Growing Space

The M9’s market positioning makes it one of the first all-electric MPVs in the country to offer this scale of luxury and space. MG is likely to price the model from around ₹65 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it squarely in competition with premium internal combustion models but with the added appeal of zero-emission driving.

Deliveries are expected to begin shortly after the official launch announcement. With the booking window now open, MG is looking to attract early adopters of electric luxury mobility in India. The M9 could very well set the tone for a new segment where spacious interiors, refined ride quality, and tech-forward features come together in an all-electric package.
