JSW MG Motor India has revealed the new Majestor SUV at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. It is more or less a facelift of the Gloster. In MG India’s lineup, it will be positioned above the outgoing Gloster. Both vehicles will be sold side by side in the country. MG India will launch the SUV in early 2025 and has now let out a teaser video on its official YouTube handle.

The video shows glimpses of the front, side, and rear designs and details like the body lines, surfacing, wheels, logo and lights. The car featured wears Black paint.

MG’s parent company SAIC already sells both Gloster and Majestor simultaneously in markets like Saudi Arabia. There, these are called the Maxus D90 and D90 MAX. In some other markets, the Majestor has also made its debut as a mid-life facelift for the Gloster. In India, however, it could be what The Legender is for the Toyota Fortuner- the more premium, better-kitted and more expensive cousin.

More About MG Majestor

MG India hasn’t revealed the exact specifications of the India-spec Majestor. It could, however, feature similar proportions as the international-spec D90 Max/ MG says it would be the ‘tallest, longest, and widest offering in the segment’. We got to check it out closely at the Auto Expo, and can confirm the same.

The global spec Majestor has a length, width and height of 5,046mm, 2,016mm and 1,876mm respectively. These are in fact, 61mm, 90mm and 9 mm more than the respective numbers of the Gloster. The new SUV will have the same wheelbase as the outgoing Gloster- 2,950mm.

The Majestor’s design looks fresh and you’d take your sweet time to get convinced that this is essentially a facelifted Gloster. Key design highlights are a new grille, new headlamps, new bumpers, new LED DRLs, connected LED tail-lamps, and better-looking 5-spoke, 19-inch alloy wheels. Parts like the doors, fenders, skid plates, exhaust tips and bonnet remain identical to those on the Gloster.

The Auto Expo showcar had tinted windows. The interiors were thus not visible. Previous spy shots, however, suggest that the India-spec Majestor could offer features like a free-standing 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, an all-digital instrument cluster with customisable interfaces, panoramic sunroof, heated, cooled and massaging driver’s seat with power adjust, a heated passenger seat, three-zone climate control, wireless phone charging, a 12-speaker audio system, an electric tailgate, Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree cameras, auto headlamps and wipers, tyre pressure monitoring, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, and an all-black cabin colourway.

Mechanically, the Majestor will have a lot in common with the current Gloster. Like the familiar SUV, it will be powered by the same 2.0-litre 4-cylinder, twin-turbo diesel engine- capable of producing 216hp and 479Nm. In addition to the manual, an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission will also be offered.

The Gloster comes in two states of tune- the lower spec producing 163hp and 375Nm, and the twin-turbo version that’s capable of generating a stronger 218hp and 480Nm. 4WD is present only on the stronger version. It remains to be seen if MG would take a similar route with the Majestor or if it would be available in the higher state of tune alone. Most likely, 4WD tech will be standard on the model and the same could be better that what comes on the Gloster.
