MG Windsor Becomes India's Fastest Sellng EV: 20,000 Units Sold In Just 6 Months

The British motoring brand MG Motor India has announced that their newest electric CUV, Windsor EV, has managed to achieve a huge sales milestone. MG has stated that the Windsor EV has become the fastest electric vehicle to achieve sales of 20,000 units in just six months. The Windsor EV has been so successful for MG that it has made the brand the only automaker in India to sell more EVs than internal combustion engine vehicles.

MG Windsor EV sales milestone

As mentioned, since its launch on September 11, 2024, the company has managed to dispatch a total of 20,000 units. By March of this year, the Windsor EV was the best-selling EV for four months straight. It was announced that the company had sold 13,322 units of the Windsor EV at the time. In October 2024, the Windsor clocked 3,116 units, while November saw it doing 3,144 units.

For MG, December and January 2025 were even better, as it managed to sell 3,785 and 3,277 units of this CUV, respectively. What makes the Windsor EV more special in terms of sales is that it has been able to dethrone the Tata Nexon EV from the top spot of the best-selling EV list. It has also outsold the entire Tata Motors electric vehicle portfolio in the country.

Commenting on the announcement of the Windsor EV’s sales milestone of 20,000 units, Rakesh Sen, Director, Sales & Marketing, JSW MG Motor India, stated:

MG Windsor EV: Why is it so successful?

The MG Windsor EV has quickly become a popular electric vehicle in India. Now, there are many reasons behind its rapid success in the country.

One of the biggest reasons behind the success of the Windsor EV in India is that it is a born electric vehicle. As a result, it has been designed to be extremely space-efficient. On the inside, the Windsor boasts a very large cabin, and due to its 2,700mm wheelbase, the space it offers for the rear passengers is unparalleled. It also gets sofa-like 135-degree reclining seats, which add to the comfort of this vehicle.

In addition to this, the Windsor EV is a very value-for-money car. It starts at Rs 13.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 15.99 lakh (ex-showroom). When compared to other cars in the same price range from Tata Motors, all of them feel very overpriced. The Windsor EV might not appear as big in images or videos. However, in reality, it dwarfs a lot of cars on the road.

The Windsor EV also offers an amazing real-world range. MG claims that the Windsor EV, with its 38 kWh battery pack, offers a range of 330 km. However, in real life, it provides a range of 260–270 km, which is very impressive. Also, it comes with a decently powerful electric motor, which makes 136 bhp and 200 Nm of torque.
