Upcoming MG Windsor EV: Airline Style Seats Of Crossover Electric Vehicle Teased On Video

MG recently revealed the official name of their upcoming EV for India. The electric crossover will be called Windsor EV, and we have seen several teaser videos and images of the EV online. The electric crossover is expected to be launched in the Indian market by September or October this year. MG is testing the EV extensively on Indian roads and various other terrains. MG has now released a new teaser video where we get a glimpse of the EV’s interior.
The video has been shared by Morris Garages on their official Facebook page. In this video, we see the rear seats of the upcoming Windsor EV. The video starts with an announcement that we usually hear in airplanes. Then we see a video where the airplane seats are getting reclined, and they suddenly switch to the interior of the Windsor EV.
The car comes with blacked-out plush-looking interiors with diamond stitching on them. The Windsor EV gets aero-lounge seats, which is a segment-first feature. The seats are designed with comfort in mind. The video mentions that the seats have a recline angle of about 135 degrees.
If you recline both front and rear seats, the cabin can be converted into a comfortable space to take a nap while on a drive. While we have seen several cars with reclining rear seats, this is probably the first one in the segment to offer 135 degrees of recline angle. We also see ambient lights on the door and speakers on them. The seats are 60:40 split and have copper-colored inserts on the door. The upper half of the car is finished in a beige or grey color, while the lower half gets a black finish.
The cabin does look premium in these videos. The MG Windsor EV gets a very curvy design, resembling many MPVs in the international market. However, MG is calling it a crossover or CUV, so we’ll be calling the Windsor that too. In a previous video, we saw an MG Comet-like steering wheel, along with a digital instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment system.
The Windsor EV is not an all-new car. It is, in fact, a rebranded or rebadged version of the Wuling Cloud EV, sold in Indonesia. The MG Cloud EV is offered with a 50.6 kWh battery pack internationally.
The electric motor generates 136 PS and 200 Nm of peak torque. The Cloud EV is expected to have a driving range of 460 km. A smaller 37.9 kWh battery pack option is also available, with a 360 km driving range.
MG recently released a video showing the MG Windsor EV being tested in the Himalayas. Like most MG cars, the upcoming Windsor will also have several premium and connected car features. In the coming days or weeks, we hope MG reveals more videos and images of the upcoming crossover.
MG confirmed that it will price the Cloud EV quite competitively, and it is expected to be priced under Rs 20 lakh. The crossover from MG will compete with the likes of the Nexon EV in the segment, as the MG ZS EV is more expensive than the Nexon EV. Other than this, MG will be launching more EVs and plug-in hybrid vehicles in the Indian market
