MG Motor India is gearing up for the launch of its newest electric vehicle in India. This all-new electric car will take on the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400. Up until now, it was believed that it would be called the MG Cloud EV in India. However, recently, a leaked document has revealed that MG will be naming this new car Windsor EV in India.

MG Windsor EV: Details

The MG Windsor EV is a new model that will be based on the Wuling Cloud EV. Currently, the Cloud EV is available in a number of international markets under the umbrella of SAIC, MG’s parent group.

MG Windsor EV: Design

In terms of design, the MG Windsor EV boasts a sleek, futuristic design inspired by the international-spec Wuling Cloud EV. It will feature smooth flowing lines, connected LED daytime running lights (DRLs), and a closed-off grille.

The Windsor EV will have uniquely positioned headlights located below the DRLs in separate housings. The side profile will be marked by smooth body panels and aerodynamically designed 18-inch alloy wheels.

It will also get flush-fitting door handles. Additionally, the charging port has been located on the front left fender. Moving on to the rear design, it features a raked windshield and connected LED tail lights. All of these design elements provide the MG Windsor EV a very modern and futuristic appearance.

Interior Design

Moving on to the interior, the MG Windsor EV will boast an all-black cabin. It will also be accompanied by wooden and bronze inserts on the dashboard. It will get black leatherette upholstery with contrasting bronze stitching to add a classy touch.

One of the standout features of the Windsor EV will be its ‘sofa mode,’ which allows the backseat to recline up to 135 degrees for added comfort during longer journeys.

MG Windsor EV: Features

Coming to the feature list of the MG Windsor EV, it will come loaded with features including a 15.6-inch free-floating infotainment system, an 8.8-inch digital driver’s display, and multi-color ambient lighting.

The upcoming EV will also offer a 6-way power-adjustable driver seat and a 4-way powered front co-passenger seat. Additional amenities will include automatic climate control with rear vents and a wireless phone charger.

Powertrain Details

The MG Windsor EV will be available with two battery pack options, similar to its international counterpart, the Wuling Cloud EV. There will be a 37.9 kWh battery pack that offers a range of 360 km. Meanwhile, the bigger 50.6 kWh battery pack extends the range to 460 km.

Both models will feature a front-axle-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 134 bhp. At the moment, the information for the specific version for the Indian market has not yet been confirmed.

Charging Capabilities

Charging the Windsor EV will be a DC fast charger. With this, the vehicle can charge from 30% to 100% in about 30 minutes. For home charging, the battery will go from 20% to 100% in approximately 7 hours using an AC charger.

MG Windsor EV Positioning

MG will be positioning the Windsor EV below the MG ZS EV and above the MG Comet. It will take place as an affordable EV, competing directly with established players such as the Tata Nexon EV and the Mahindra XUV400. It is expected to come with a price tag of under Rs 20 lakh.
