MG Windsor EV: Details

As stated, the MG Windsor EV is not an entirely new model but rather a rebadged version of the Wuling Cloud EV. This particular EV is already sold in international markets, with China being a major one. The Cloud EV has been rebranded and optimized for the Indian market and will be positioned in the Rs 20 lakh EV segment.

Design and Dimensions

In terms of the design, the MG Windsor EV has been designed to look very unique. JSW MG Motor India classifies it as a crossover and has stated that it will provide the comfort of a sedan with the practicality of an SUV. The Windsor EV measures 4,295 mm in length, which makes it slightly shorter than the MG ZS EV.

However, it compensates for this with a width of 1,850 mm and a height of 1,652 mm, both of which exceed the dimensions of the ZS EV. The vehicle’s wheelbase is 2,700 mm, which means that it will provide ample space for passengers.

The exterior of the MG Windsor EV is very modern and futuristic. The vehicle features LED light bars at the front and rear. It also gets vertically stacked projector headlamps. The charging port is conveniently located on the left front fender. The Windsor EV also boasts chunky alloy wheels, an integrated spoiler, and flush-fitting door handles.

Interior and Features

Hopping onto the interior of the MG Windsor EV, the crossover features an equally modern and futuristic interior layout. Its minimalist cabin will come equipped with a 15.6-inch freestanding central touchscreen infotainment system and an 8.8-inch digital instrument display.

It will also get seats upholstered in Italian bubble-style leatherette, with electric adjustment options for the front seats. A standout feature of the MG Windsor EV will be the ‘Sofa mode’ recline function, which will allow the rear seats to recline for added comfort.

Other notable features include a powered tailgate, 360-degree cameras, wireless phone charging, a six-speaker audio system, and connected car technology. The cabin will also get ambient lighting, a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel, and a panoramic sunroof.

Safety Features

The MG Windsor EV is expected to come equipped with four airbags as standard, along with electronic stability control (ESC). It will also get disc brakes on all four wheels, hill hold assist, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). The ADAS suite will include adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, and lane departure warning, among others.

Powertrain Details

As for the electric powertrain, the MG Windsor EV is expected to feature a 50.6 kWh lithium ferro-phosphate (LFP) battery, which is the same as that used in the Wuling Cloud EV. This battery could come paired with a single electric motor that drives the front wheels. This motor will deliver 134 bhp of power and 200 Nm of torque. These figures are slightly less powerful than those of the MG ZS EV.

As for the range, the Windsor EV is expected to deliver up to 460 kilometers on a single charge. There will be the option of using a regular AC charger, which could take over 7 hours to reach 100% charge. Additionally, there will also be a DC fast charger, which can bring the battery to 80% capacity in just over 30 minutes.
