Scoop: MG Windsor Pro 50 kWh Price Revealed!

MG Motor India is set to launch the 50 kWh version of the Windsor EV, under the name 'Windsor EV Pro'. With days left for the market launch, we have learnt what the ex-showroom prices of the new model.

The top-spec will cost 17.49 lakh, ex-showroom, and our sources have confirmed this. This price is introductory though.

Talking of the regular Windsor EV, the prices start at Rs 13.99 and go up to 15.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

JSW MG Motor India also offers a Battery As A Subscription (BaaS) model of ownership on the Windsor EV. Under this program, one can own the EV by paying Rs 9.99 lakh, and Rs 3.9 in battery rent for every kilometer driven. The Pro version could also get something of this sort. Details of the same are expected to surface closer to the launch.

MG Windsor EV Pro: More About It

The Windsor EV already has a strong presence in the Indian market. Its increasing acceptance contributes significantly to MG's overall monthly volumes. With the long-range version, the model's popularity is only expected to grow further.

The exterior design will remain almost identical to the outgoing model. You can also find multiple 'PRO' badges on the exterior panels. Changes inside the cabin are more comprehensive. The overall design and layout of the dashboard remain similar to those on the outgoing model.

The PRO version will, however, feature a tasteful use of faux wood finish inside the cabin. You will find these on the dashboard, central tunnel and various other places. There will be multiple Copper accents offered as well.

The kit levels will also be better than what's offered on the regular Windsor. The new EV will come equipped with ADAS, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and more. Expect the likes of a massive 15.6-inch central touchscreen, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a wireless charging pad to also make an appearance.

The audio system offered will be a 9-speaker setup by Infinity. The vehicle will also have features like automatic climate control, cruise control, and a panoramic glass roof. Like the regular model, the Windsor Pro will have seats that can recline up to 135 degrees (which the manufacturer calls 'Aero Lounge'). These ensure supreme occupant comfort on long drives, and will likely wear Black upholstry on the Pro version too.

The biggest technical upgrade in the Windsor Pro is the battery. While the regular Windsor runs on a 38 kWh unit with a claimed range of 331 kilometres per charge, the Pro version steps up with a larger, 50 kWh battery pack. This pushes the claimed range up to 461 kilometres on a single charge. This hike can make a big difference in real driving scenarios.

Although MG hasn’t officially confirmed a more powerful motor, there are hints that the Pro variant could offer better performance to match its premium positioning. In that case, it could do with the more powerful electric motor from the outgoing ZS EV. (If you didn't know it yet, the ZS EV is set to get a replacement in India, in the not-so-distant future)
