MG Motor India's upcoming Windsor EV Pro has been fully unmasked by automotive vloggers ahead of its official launch. The leaked footage shows the new variant's design and features. And this is generating significant buzz among Indian electric vehicle enthusiasts.

A Glimpse into the Future

The Windsor EV Pro is a significant upgrade over its predecessor, featuring a larger 50.6 kWh battery pack that promises a range of up to 461 Km (CLTC) on a single charge. This enhancement addresses one of the primary concerns of EV users: range anxiety.

The increased capacity ensures that drivers can undertake longer journeys without frequent charging stops. ARAI range figures for the Windsor Pro will be revealed soon, and we expect it to be similar to the CLTC number. CLTC stands for China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle, a standard adopted in China to certify the range of electric cars.

The leaked images reveal subtle design changes that you won’t even notice unless you look very hard. New alloy wheel designs and refreshed interior upholstery with faux wooden inserts add a touch of elegance to the vehicle.

The inclusion of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities further elevate the Windsor Pro's appeal.

Performance and Charging

Beyond the extended range, the Windsor Pro is expected to offer faster charging times. With a 50 kW DC fast charger, the vehicle can charge from 0 to 80% in just 46 minutes. This efficiency ensures minimal downtime during long trips.

Market Positioning

With prices likely to sit between ₹15.49 lakh and ₹17.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the Windsor Pro is expected positions itself as a premium yet affordable electric vehicle option in the Indian market. MG's innovative Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, which allows users to rent the battery separately, further reduces the initial ownership cost, making EV adoption more accessible.

Anticipation Builds

The early reveal has only heightened anticipation for the Windsor EV Pro's official launch. Set to be unveiled on May 6, 2025, the vehicle is poised to make a significant impact in the Indian electric vehicle landscape, offering a blend of performance, luxury, and affordability.

As the automotive industry continues to evolve, the Windsor EV Pro is another signal of MG Motor India's commitment to innovation and customer-centric solutions. With its enhanced features and competitive pricing, the Windsor Pro could set the cat amongst pigeons in the Rs. 10-20 lakh electric vehicle segment.

Rivals such as the Tata Curvv.EV and Hyundai Creta Electric had better watch out. Pricing has been the Windsor's big strength, and the Pro will continue the ground work laid by the smaller battery model. Major price revisions/corrections are anticipated as rival car makers will want to respond to the challenge thrown by the Windsor Pro.
