MG Windsor Pro Launch Date Revealed: To Get Bigger Battery, And A Lot More! [Video]
The British motoring brand MG Motor India has finally revealed the launch date of the new variant of the Windsor. This new variant will be called the MG Windsor Pro, and it will be making its official debut on May 6. The new Windsor Pro will feature a much-requested larger 50.6 kWh battery pack, ADAS Level 2, and a number of other upgrades. This will sit above the standard Windsor EV in the MG lineup.
MG Windsor Pro: Teaser released
Along with the announcement of the name of the Windsor Pro, MG has also released a new teaser for this upcoming CUV. The teaser starts off with the MG Windsor Pro leaving a garage, and in this shot, we can see the rear of the vehicle. It gets the same connected LED taillights as the standard model. Soon after this, the video highlights the first Pro feature, which is the ADAS Level 2.
Like the rear, the front also looks the same but will get a new radar-based sensor for the ADAS Level 2 safety feature. Most likely, the suite of ADAS on the Windsor Pro will include features such as adaptive cruise control, lane assist, collision avoidance system, and many others. The video then highlights the new Pro battery pack of this vehicle. As per the reports, the company will be offering the new Windsor Pro with a larger 50.6 kWh battery pack.
With the help of this pack, the Windsor Pro will be able to provide a range of 460 km (CLTC claimed) on a single full charge. As per the reports, the company will not offer a more powerful electric motor. It will continue to get the same front-wheel-powering electric motor, which is capable of generating 134 bhp and 200 Nm of torque.
The new Windsor Pro, as hinted by the company, will have a few Pro styling features such as a set of new alloy wheels and a few other convenience features. The teaser also shows the interior of this new upcoming model. It can be noted that the overall dashboard layout and features of the Pro variant are the same as the standard model.
However, this new model will be getting faux wood trims and copper accents throughout. Apart from this, the black leather upholstery will remain the same as the current model. Moving on, the video finally shows the Windsor Pro powering an outdoor picnic setup, hinting at the V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) feature.
Features currently offered on the Windsor Pro include a 15.6-inch digital instrument gauge cluster, 8.8-inch digital instrument gauge cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless charger, 9-speaker Infinity sound system, automatic climate control, cruise control, panoramic glass roof, and 135-degree reclining rear seats.
MG Windsor Pro launch and pricing
The last clip of the teaser highlights that the MG Windsor Pro will be launched on May 6. As for the pricing, the MG Windsor Pro is expected to start from Rs 17 lakh. Currently, the standard Windsor EV starts at Rs 9.99 lakh + Rs 3.5/km for the battery rental cost. The car is also offered in three variants: Excite, Exclusive, and Essence, with prices ranging from Rs 14 lakh to Rs 16 lakh.
