How To Buy And Activate Fastag Annual Pass: A Step-By-Step Guide

In order to make journeys easier for regular national highway users, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways recently launched its annual pass at Rs 3,000. With this pass, vehicle owners can enjoy seamless travel for a year or up to 200 crossings. Now, if you are one of those people who want to buy this annual pass, here is the step-by-step guide on how you can buy it and enjoy hassle-free travel on national highways.

Step-by-step guide to buy a FASTag-based annual pass

To buy the annual pass, you have to first download the Rajmargyatra application on your mobile phone via Google Play Store or iOS App Store. Following this, you have to select the annual pass option inside the application. Then, you have to look for the option with “PRE-BOOK.”

After this, you'll be taken to the “Ready to get started” page. In this, you'll be guided about the things you need to have before you can buy the annual pass. The conditions highlight that you need to have your vehicle registration number, a valid FASTag with a positive balance, and lastly, your vehicle needs to be of class Car/Jeep/Van (non-commercial).

Following this, you have to enter your vehicle's registration number in the application. After that, you need to check your vehicle’s eligibility and validate the same. Then, on your registered mobile number, you'll be sent a One-Time Password (OTP), which will be needed for verification.

Next, you have to complete the purchase by proceeding to the payment option. You'll be shown the total payable fee, and then you have to choose the payment mode and complete the payment. You'll have UPI, cards, and NetBanking as options for the payment. Finally, you make the payment, and then you'll be able to enjoy your annual pass without any hassle.

Details of the Annual Pass for Highways

As mentioned above, the FASTag annual pass is a subscription-based tolling option for private vehicle owners. It offers free passage at National Highway and National Expressway toll plazas. It covers cars, SUVs, vans, and other private vehicles only. No commercial vehicles have the option to buy this annual pass at the moment.

It will be valid for 1 year or 200 trips, whichever comes first. Once this annual pass is bought and activated, there will be no per-trip fee deductions at toll plazas. If you make your 200 trips before your one-year validity expires, you can re-purchase the same pass by paying the same Rs 3,000. It has to be mentioned that this is not a mandatory pass, and it is completely optional to buy.

Remember that it is a point-based system. So, one crossing means one trip. This means that if you're on a round trip, it will be counted as two trips. The annual pass is not transferable and cannot be used if the FASTag is registered on a chassis number only. Also, misuse of the annual pass will lead to deactivation.
