Tastefully Modified Mahindra Bolero Is Ready For Adventure [Video]

The Mahindra Bolero targets a very specific audience segment that targets functionality over features. Due to the SUV being totally free from modern day tech and electronics, the Bolero acts as a canvas for functional off road focused builds. Today, we will cover one such Bolero which looks quite simple but it is totally a different beast when it comes to functionality and usability.
The modified SUV is shown to us in a YouTube video uploaded on Mihir Galat YouTube channel. Please note that this car is not owned by the Youtuber. He showcases various builds and modified cars on his YouTube channel.
The host calls this Bolero as India’s most attractive and sexy Bolero. It is up to you to decde whether this car justifies the claim or not. Now, let’s start with the details.
At the front, the SUV is loaded with all the usual mods which include a front metal bumper, LED projector headlights and LED fog lamps. The owner adds that the headlights are custom built by him.
Additionally, a front bull bar is installed which is borrowed from the Bolero pickup truck. To increase the watering wading capacity of the vehicle, a functional snorkel is added. Overall, there are not much cosmetic mods done to this SUV as this is a performance focused build.
The only mod in the side profile is the addition of aftermarket still rims with off road tires and custom made fenders. The owner of the car mentions that he has not took this car outside Shimla as it is illegal due to the metal bumper and wide tires.
The owner talks about the challenges he faced while lifting this car. He mentioned that he tried springs from various car models. However, none of them seemed to work.
He adds that he did not opt for a lift kit because the Mahindra Bolero comes with a ball joint issue from the factory and installing a body kit will just snap the joint. At last, he installed the springs from Scorpio which worked fine but he does not reveal many details about it. Additionally, the lower spring arm angle is changed to shift the stress from ball joint. He adds that he has plans to make this car solid axle all by himself.
The car is not tuned but to increase performance, mainly torque, the owner changed the ratio of the differential. This entire thing was hit and trial and he tried multiple ratios before deciding on one. Along with the change in ratios, the clutch plates are also upgraded. Some mods have been done to the stock turbo to increase the boost.
The owner adds that he made this build on a limited budget; hence he did not go for a remap. Another performance mod is side exit exhaust with a custom built end can. He clarifies that not much performance boost is seen with the exhaust. The owner does not have a power figure of this car as this has never been put on dyno. In future, he will also convert this car from 4×2 to 4×4.
