India’s Richest MLA Buys 3 Crore BMW XM SUV That Offers 62 Kmpl Mileage

There are a few politicians in India who have good taste in cars. Besides their social work, some of them even have well-flourished businesses. One such politician is M.T.B. Nagaraj of Hosakote, near Bangalore, who is currently the state minister for small-scale industries and municipal administration. The politician recently added another expensive car to his garage. This time, it is a BMW XM luxury SUV that offers a mileage of 62 kmpl!
A video of Mr. M.T.B. Nagaraj taking delivery of his brand new car has been circulating on various social media platforms. The video, seen here, has been shared by Headlines Karnataka. In this video, we see the BMW XM being delivered to the minister at his residence. Soon after the car is unveiled, the politician takes it for a short spin. He returns and then joins the celebration.
The dealership staff honor the customer by offering him a traditional hat and shawl from the region. The BMW XM is currently the most expensive BMW SUV on the market and also the first-ever M model from BMW to feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain. It is also the second standalone product under the M brand after the legendary M1.
The BMW XM has a very large kidney grille with illumination, twin LED headlamps, and LED DRLs just above it. The front bumper looks sharp and edgy, giving it an extremely sporty look. The large air intake at the front also contributes to this appearance. The side profile of the car resembles the BMW iX electric SUV. The car comes with 22-inch M wheels, with the option for customers to upgrade to 23-inch units. The design of the wheels is exclusive to the XM.
The XM offers a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dedicated red-colored M mode buttons, ambient lights, four-zone climate control, a premium sound system, ADAS, and more. It is powered by a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged petrol engine, which, along with the electric motor, generates around 653 PS and 800 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, and the SUV has a range of 88 km in EV mode. As this is a plug-in hybrid vehicle, it delivers around 62 kmpl. The price of a brand new BMW XM is Rs 2.60 crore, ex-showroom.
Besides the newly bought BMW XM, Nagaraj owns several other expensive and exotic cars. Some of them are listed below:
He owns a white Rolls Royce Phantom VIII. It is powered by a 6.75-liter twin-turbocharged V12 petrol engine, which produces 563 bhp of maximum power and 900 Nm of torque.
The current generation Range Rover in Nagaraj’s garage is finished in Lantau Bronze shade. The exact spec of this SUV is not known as it is available with both petrol and diesel engine options.
This is probably the only supercar in the politician’s garage. The blue-colored Ferrari is powered by a 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine, producing 710 bhp of power and 770 Nm.
The politician owns the current version of the Defender 110 SUV. The SUV gained popularity among celebrities and businessmen around the world. The Land Rover Defender is available with 2.0-liter and 3.0-liter petrol engines, as well as a 3.0-liter diesel engine. A 5.0-liter V8 option is also available in the market.
Nagaraj owns the older version of this luxury SUV. It is probably the version that came with a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine that generated 340 bhp and 450 Nm of peak torque.
In addition to these expensive cars, Mr. Nagaraj also owns cars like the Toyota Fortuner, Innova Crysta, and Maruti Omni in his garage.
