Kia is one of the leading car manufacturers in India. Kia entered the market with the Seltos, and they have never had to look back since. They have been consistently releasing quality products for the Indian market. However, they are currently missing an affordable EV in their lineup. It is well-known that they are working on a couple of electric vehicles, some of which are expected to be launched later this year. Here we have two new affordable EVs from Kia that will soon be launched in India.

Kia Carens EV

The Carens has been a popular MUV from Kia in the Indian market. An update has been long overdue for the Carens, and it is expected to arrive this year. The facelifted version of the Carens has been spotted testing multiple times, and an electric version is also in development. The Carens EV has been seen undergoing testing as well.

The upcoming Carens EV will be based on the facelifted version, which is likely to be launched in the coming months. The Carens Electric will feature a redesigned front fascia with a closed front grille, LED headlamps, a connecting LED bar (or welcome bar) at the front, redesigned alloy wheels, and updated front and rear bumpers.

At the rear, the Carens EV will have all-LED tail lamps with a connecting LED bar. The tailgate and bumper will have a sharper design, and the interior is also expected to see changes. It might include a double-decker floating-type center console, a redesigned dashboard, a large touchscreen infotainment system, and more.

The car will offer three-row seating along with premium features like electrically adjustable seats, automatic climate control, and more. It remains to be seen whether the steering wheel in the Carens EV will be the same as in the ICE version. The Carens Electric will not be a ground-up EV but will be based on the ICE platform.

Regarding the battery options, the Carens Electric might use the same 51.4 kWh battery pack from the Creta Electric. It is also possible that Kia will offer a larger battery option for higher variants. The Carens Electric is expected to deliver a driving range of 400–500 km. Kia is likely to launch the Carens EV toward the end of 2025.

Kia Syros EV

While not much information is available about the Syros EV, it is known that the SUV will be based on the K1 platform, which is also used in the Hyundai Exter EV. The Syros EV is expected to offer features such as Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, and more. The exterior design will have EV-specific changes to differentiate it from the ICE version. Kia is expected to price the Syros EV in the Rs 15–20 lakh range, and we hope to see test mules of the upcoming EV on Indian roads soon.
