Learner Driver Drives Maruti Swift Into Lake: Passengers Escape Through Windows [Video]
Learning to drive a car in a secluded space is a good idea. However, it should be noted that there is no water body near the spot. This is because if things go wrong at any point in time, it can lead to an incident like the one that recently took place. It has been reported that a new driver accidentally accelerated his new Maruti Suzuki Swift and ended up in a pond. This incident took place in Jangaon, Telangana.
Maruti Suzuki Swift plunges into pond
A video showing how a brand-new Swift plunged into a pond has been shared on YouTube. It comes courtesy of TV5 News on their channel. Now, before talking about how the learner driver and his co-passenger came out of the sinking Swift, we have to explain what happened.
So, as per the reports, earlier on Friday evening, a man named Jhonny Miya from Gudur village, Palakurthy Mandal, Jangaon, Telangana, was learning how to drive a car. He was accompanied by Adam from Ghanpur. Now, what happened was Jhonny, at one point, could not manage to control the brand-new Swift in which he was learning to drive.
Unfortunately, the two men were practicing driving a car near the Bathukamma Kunta. So, as Jhonny lost control of the Swift after rapid acceleration, the vehicle plunged into the water body. Following this, the struggle of the two passengers in the sinking car was captured and shared online.
How did they escape?
The video shared on the internet shows that as the Swift went into the water, both occupants were trying to open the door. However, as the pressure of water from outside was much higher, they could not open the door. Thankfully, Adam was able to open the window of the front left door.
Following this, he first came out of the window and directly jumped into the water. Soon after, Jhonny, who was in the driver’s seat, also climbed out of the front left window. He too then jumped into the water. The video also shows that a number of people were watching this from the side of the pond.
Thankfully, there was one person who, immediately after seeing these two men in the water with their car, jumped into the pond. He swam next to the car and assisted both Adam and Jhonny. The video then shows that after struggling to swim for a while, they managed to reach the steps of the pond.
Police reached the spot
Reportedly, after this incident took place, Jangaon Inspector P. Damodar and his team arrived at the spot. It has also been mentioned that a heavy earthmover was called to remove the new Swift from the water after the incident.
Where not to learn to drive?
From the above incident, one thing that should become clear to anyone learning to drive a car is to avoid driving near a water body. Mistakes can happen at any point while learning to drive a car. However, if these mistakes occur right next to a pond, the likelihood of the car plunging into the water becomes exponentially higher.
