Electric SUVs are becoming increasingly popular in India. People love them for the added practicality and comfort they bring to the table, and manufacturers take advantage of the fact that the SUV body style particularly favours EV architecture. The upcoming Bharat Mobility Expo 2025 in Delhi will see the launch and showcase of several new electric SUVs. Here are 10 launches that are to be expected:

Maruti eVitara

The eVitara will be Maruti Suzuki’s first EV for India. It is destined for both the Indian and international markets. The eVitara will be based on the Heartect-e skateboard platform and will span 4,275 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width and 1,635 mm in height. The wheelbase is 2,700 mm, which is 100 odd millimetres longer than the Grand Vitara.

The eVitara will have a comfortable cabin, packed with features. Expect the likes of dual-connected displays, flat top and bottom steering wheel, a floating central console with integrated charging ports, a rotary knob for gear selection, single-zone climate control with physical buttons, an electronic parking brake, and a large single-pane electric sunroof.

Exterior highlights include projector LED headlights with Y-shaped LED DRLs, closed grille, LED fog lights, chunky cladding on hexagonal wheel arches, LED taillights and more.

Maruti Suzuki will offer two battery pack choices on the eVitara– 61 kWh and 49 kWh. The smaller battery pack will generate a maximum power of 144 bhp and 189 Nm while the larger unit will produce 174 bhp and 189 Nm. There will also be an AWD version with 184 bhp and 300 Nm on tap.

We expect the eVitara to launch at the Bharat Mobility Expo.

Hyundai Creta Electric

Hyundai India will launch the Creta Electric at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. It will be available in two powertrain choices- 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery. The less capable powertrain would be able to generate 135 bhp while the larger will be able to churn out 171 Bhp. The EV will be based on the regular Creta’s modified K2 platform. The smaller battery pack will be able to deliver 390 km in range while the long range version will have a range of 473 Kms. Being able to do the 0-100 Kph sprint in just 7.9 seconds, the EV will be the fastest Creta ever built.

The design will stand close to that of the regular (ICE) Creta. It will have distinctive EV elements like a unique colourway, aero wheels, different bumper designs and more. The cabin will have a fresh layout and use premium trims and colours. The electric SUV will also come with Hyundai’s new EV-spec steering wheel and a lot of features.

Tata Harrier.EV

Tata Motors will launch two important electric SUVs at the Expo. One of these would be the Harrier.EV. The electric Harrier will be based on the Acti.ev platform. It will be available in both RWD and AWD versions. The design will resemble that of the ICE Harrier. There would be EV-spec elements like a closed-off grille and an LED light bar.

This electric SUV will come with a powertrain that would deliver a range of around 500 km per charge and will compete with the likes of the Creta EV, when launched.

Tata Safari.EV

Tata’s second big EV launch will be the Safari.EV. This would essentially be an electric version of the outgoing Safari. The Harrier EV and Safari EV will likely share their powertrains, much like the ICE versions do. The range is also expected to be in the range of 500 km per charge.

Toyota Urban Cruiser EV

Following the launch of eVitara, Toyota will also launch their version of the electric SUV. It is likely to be called the Urban Cruiser EV. The vehicle will have slight design deviations from the eVitara. The interior is likely to feature a different colour scheme. The powertrain will be same as that of the eVitara.

Mahindra BE6 Mid Variant

The BE6 is probably the most interesting of Mahindra’s two electric origin SUVs. The carmaker has revealed that it will be available in a total of three variants and two battery options- 79 kWh and 59 kWh. The variants are Pack 1, Pack 2 and Pack 3. The carmaker has revealed the prices of the base-spec and top-spec variants. It is expected to announce the mid variant (Pack 2) prices at the Expo.

Mahindra XEV 9e Mid-Variant

The XEV 9e is the electric coupe version of the XUV 700. It gets the same set of battery packs and powertrains as the BE 6. Like the smaller SUV, the 9e also has three variants- Pack 1, Pack 2 and pack 3. The prices of the top-spec and base variants are already out, and that of the mid-variant is expected to be revealed at the Expo.

BYD Sealion 7

The Sealion 7 is an electric coupe SUV based on the Seal. It is globally pictured as a worthy alternative to the Tesla Model Y. BYD will bring the SUV to the Indian shores soon and it will be showcased at the Expo. It is based on the company’s e-Platform 3.0 Evo architecture, and will come with two battery pack options- 82.5 kWh and 91.3 kWh.

The Sealion 7 will borrow a lot of its design cues from the Seal. The headlamps, connected tail lamps etc are similar. A lot of the interior is also shared between the two models. Expect a price of over 41 lakh ( sitting above the Seal) for this SUV, more about which will be disclosed at the Expo.

Skoda Enyaq

Skoda will bring the heavily updated Enyaq EV to the Expo. The vehicle is set to launch in India sometime soon. The facelifted Enyaq features the company’s Modern Solid design philosophy. The new design has reduced the drag coefficient. The vehicle also gets LED matrix DRLs and headlamps, new wheels and more. It rides on 19 inch wheels while 21 inchers are optional.

The cabin layout gets a complete ovehaul on the facelift and more features have been added to the vehicle. Two battery pack choices- 77 kWh and 59 kWh are offered on the global spec. The larger would deliver a range of up to 588 km per charge.

VW iD4
