All New Renault Duster To Get Four Different Types Of Fuel Options: Details

The French automaker Renault is gearing up for the launch of the new-generation Duster in India. This time around, the company will not be offering a diesel motor in India. However, there is nothing to worry about, as there will be a total of four powertrain options for the buyers to choose from. Recently, it has been confirmed that the new-generation Duster will be offered with petrol options, a strong hybrid option, along with CNG and electric.
Renault wants to make sure that buyers who are interested in buying the new Duster don’t feel short of engine powertrain options. The company will be offering the new Duster with two petrol engine options. The first will be a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol, dubbed as HR12. It will come equipped with a 48V mild-hybrid system with a starter-generator.
It is believed that it will make around 130 PS and a torque of 230 Nm. As for the gearbox, it will come mated to a 6-speed manual and also get an automatic gearbox option as well. Then there will be a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which will produce 100 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque. As for transmission, it will also get a 6-speed manual and an automatic alternative.
The company, in international markets, offers this same motor with an LPG option as well. Most likely, the Indian market will not get LPG. Instead, a CNG option based on the 1.0-litre motor will be offered. The exact power figures of the CNG-powered Duster have not been revealed.
In addition to the mild-hybrid powertrain, Renault is also planning to offer the new Duster with a 1.6-litre naturally aspirated 4-cylinder petrol, which will also get a strong hybrid system. This model will be equipped with 2 electric motors, of which one will be the main traction motor and the other will be the starter motor.
There will also be a 1.2 kWh battery pack as well. The ICE part will produce 94 PS; meanwhile, the electric motors will generate 49 PS. Combined, it will make 140 PS. Transmission duties will be handled by a clutchless automatic multi-mode gearbox.
Although it will be the last powertrain option to be launched, Renault will be offering the Duster with an electric drivetrain as well. This model will be based on the CMF-BEV, same as the Renault 5 and Renault 4 EV. It is expected to offer front-wheel drive as standard, and there is a possibility for a 4x4 variant with dual motors as well. Range is expected to be around 300–400 km on a single full charge.
Most likely, the Duster with the naturally aspirated and mild-hybrid system will be launched in India by the end of this year. It has been reported that the production of the Duster in India will begin by September, and deliveries will commence from early 2026.
Following the launch of the Duster, in 2026, Renault will also be offering the Duster’s seven-seater counterpart, Boreal, in India. This model will get the same powertrain options but will be slightly longer and offer seating for seven people with an additional row in the rear.
