Upcoming Nissan Terrano To Look Like A European SUV: Details

Nissan India is gearing up for an important product reveal next week. On October 7th, it will showcase the upcoming mid-size SUV for the Indian market. Nissan previously had a product in this segment- the Terrano. The new SUV will likely carry over the same name. In all communication and teasers so far, the carmaker has managed to keep the design concealed. We have now uncovered the design digitally ahead of the official reveal. Interestingly, the new Terrano will look like a European SUV!
When we first look at the design, one thing will strike us- it looks nice and clean! Smooth surfaces, neat lines, and a likeable upright stance. The design at large won't scream for attention.
Unlike some of its rivals that have strong body lines and shouty styling, the new Terrano will lean toward minimalist aesthetics. The overall shape will go easy on the eye. This design direction is a common find in most European SUVs.
Another trait to notice on this vehicle is its balanced proportions. The new Terrano will have an upright stance and a good road presence. Going by the teaser and our render images, the overhangs will be short. The ground clearance will be 200+ mm. Overall, there is a fine sense of balance in the form and styling.
The new Terrano will also come with signature Nissan cues. These can be found mainly in the front fascia. It will have a large, rectangular grille design, LED headlamps with tasteful DRL signatures, and neatly drawn front bumpers. There may even be a full-width light bar at the front. We will have to wait till the reveal event to confirm the same though.
Since we have based our render on the design direction teased officially by the manufacturer, it is highly likely that the production SUV will stay true to these.
Like the exteriors, the new Terrano’s cabin too will have European influence. The primary reason behind this is that it is based on the new-generation Renault Duster, an SUV that packs European flair.
Nissan is yet to reveal the actual design of the cabin. However, spy shots point to it resembling that of the Duster. If so, the Terrano’s interior will have a modern, functional and clean design.
You will find premium trims and soft-touch materials at various places of this design. It will also come with a long list of features like a large 10.1-inch touchscreen, 7-inch driver display, wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, electric parking brake, ventilated seats, automatic climate control, wireless charging, level 2 ADAS and a 360-degree camera.

The safety suite will have multiple airbags, electronic stability control, hill-hold assist, 3-point seat belts for all seats, seatbelt warning lamps, and more. Most European SUVs come well kitted and offer good safety levels- another trait that makes the new Terrano feel European.
The new Terrano will be underpinned by Nissan-Renault’s CMF-B platform. It will likely come with the same powertrains as the upcoming Duster- a 1.3L turbocharged petrol (EDC) engine and a 1.2L mild hybrid petrol. Later, the company could also introduce a strong hybrid version in the future.
The 1.3L turbo used to be offered on the Terrano that was previously on sale here. Both manual and automatic transmissions will be available on the new SUV. Nissan is also expected to offer 4x4 hardware on higher variants of the new Terrano.
The new Terrano, when launched in early 2026, will enter a fiercely competitive segment. This space currently has the dominance of the Hyundai Creta. Other key players include the likes of Kia Seltos, Toyota Hyryder, Maruti Grand Vitara, the new Maruti Victoris, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate, and even the Tata Curvv. The new Duster will also enter the same segment.
