7 New Tata SUVs For India And Their Launch Timelines

Tata is currently one of the leading car manufacturers in India. They are working their way up to becoming one of the leading SUV manufacturers. Tata has several models in their lineup, and most of them are SUVs. They are currently working on several new models as well as updating the existing ones. Here, we have a list of seven such new Tata SUVs that will be launched in the Indian market.
We’ll start with the best-selling SUV from Tata. The Nexon was launched in the market seven years ago, and Tata has sold over 7 lakh units of this SUV since then. We currently have Nexon available in petrol, diesel, and EV forms. Tata has been working on an iCNG variant of the Nexon, and they even displayed it at the Bharat Mobility Expo this year.
The Nexon iCNG will have twin-cylinder technology, which will offer the convenience of CNG without compromising on boot space. It will be the first turbo petrol engine car or SUV to be offered with CNG from the factory. The Nexon CNG is expected to be launched in the second half of 2024 (around September).
This is an all-new product that many Tata fans or car buyers are looking forward to. The Curvv SUV concept was showcased a few years ago, and last year at the Auto Expo, Tata unveiled a version of the Curvv that looked closer to the production version. Tata will be offering a coupe-like SUV design, which will make it stand out from the crowd.
It is based on Tata’s Gen 2 Acti.ev architecture. The upcoming EV is expected to offer a driving range of around 400-500 km with fully charged batteries. Regarding the launch timeline, Tata was expected to start the production of Curvv in June this year, but due to several reasons, it has been pushed back. The SUV is now expected to be launched sometime after September this year.
Tata is all set to strengthen their EV game in the Indian market. They already have electric versions of Punch, Tiago, Tigor, and Nexon in the market. They have plans to expand the EV lineup by launching the Harrier EV. The EV has been spotted testing a couple of times, and it looks like Tata will be offering the Harrier EV with an AWD feature.
The SUV is expected to be powered by dual motors (one at the front axle and one at the rear). It is expected to offer a driving range of around 500 km. Tata is expected to launch the Harrier EV in the first quarter of 2025.
Tata will be launching an ICE version of the Curvv SUV in the market too. The SUV is expected to get both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol version of Curvv will be using a brand new 1.2-liter, three-cylinder engine that will be offered with manual and automatic gearbox options. The diesel version will use the same 1.5-liter turbocharged engine as many other Tata cars. This engine is also expected to get manual and automatic options.
As Tata’s plans to produce Curvv were pushed back, the Curvv ICE version was also affected. It will only be launched in the market after the launch of the EV. It is expected to happen either towards the end of 2024 or early 2025.
Just like the Harrier, Tata will eventually be launching an electric version of their current flagship SUV Safari in the market too. The Safari SUV has been spotted testing a few times. In terms of design, both the Harrier EV and Safari EV are expected to look similar to their ICE counterparts.
The SUV is expected to offer a driving range of 500 km and will be launched in the market in 2025. The launch of the Safari EV is currently expected to happen sometime after the launch of the Harrier EV in India.
Sierra was the name of Tata’s iconic SUV. It was, in fact, the first made-in-India SUV. Tata decided to bring back the Sierra name after they displayed the Sierra concept at the Auto Expo back in 2020. In 2023, we got a much more production-ready version of the Sierra concept EV. The electric version of the Sierra is confirmed to be launched in FY2026.
Tata has not confirmed anything related to this. The manufacturer at the moment mentions that the Sierra will be returning or offered as an EV only. However, if things change, Tata might also bring the ICE version of Sierra to us. It would be launched only after the EV version.
