Next-Gen Audi Q3 Revealed: Sharper Design, Smarter Tech, and More Space

The Audi Q3 has long been a favourite in the compact luxury SUV space, offering a well-rounded package that blends premium appeal with practicality. Now, the third-generation Q3 has been officially unveiled, bringing a major overhaul in design, technology, and interior room. The question now is not just what’s new, but whether this new Q3 can carve a bigger slice of the growing entry-luxury SUV market.
The most immediate change is the Q3’s size. This new generation is based on the latest MQB Evo platform, and it has grown in all directions. It is now 4.5 metres long, making it nearly 100 mm longer than its predecessor. The wheelbase has also increased by 77 mm, which directly translates into more cabin space, especially for rear passengers and boot capacity.
The design has taken a more angular and sportier approach. Audi’s trademark octagonal grille is now larger, flanked by sleeker Matrix LED headlamps. The bonnet has prominent creases, and the sides are sculpted with strong character lines that add visual drama.
While the overall silhouette retains the familiar Q3 proportions, the detailing now leans more towards the modern Q8 family DNA. Depending on the variant, buyers can choose between design-focused Advanced and sporty S-Line trims, with wheel sizes ranging from 17 to 20 inches.
Step inside and the generational leap becomes even more evident. The cabin layout has been completely redone. The dashboard now wraps around the driver with a prominent 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen tilted slightly towards the driver. Audi has retained physical controls for the climate system, which many users will welcome, especially after increasing complaints about touch-sensitive panels in some rivals.
Material quality, fit and finish have also improved. Aluminium and soft-touch plastics dominate the surfaces, and there’s ambient lighting for that added sense of occasion. The boot now offers a respectable 530 litres of luggage space, which can be expanded further with the 40:20:40 split rear seats folded down.
Other features include a panoramic sunroof, connected car tech, a 15-speaker Sonos sound system on higher trims, wireless charging, and USB-C ports for both rows. Audi claims improvements in NVH levels as well, thanks to better insulation and wind-cheating design changes.
The new Q3 is expected to be offered with a range of petrol and diesel engines in global markets, but the India-specific line-up is likely to begin with the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol unit producing 204 hp and paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system will continue to be available, though a front-wheel-drive version may also be considered for the lower trims.
In global markets, plug-in hybrid variants are on the cards, but Audi may delay introducing these in India due to cost and limited demand. However, mild-hybrid technology could make an appearance to improve fuel efficiency and meet emission targets.
The new Q3 is expected to go on sale in India in early 2026, with local assembly at Audi’s Aurangabad facility likely to continue. Pricing will be key, especially with newer rivals like the BMW X1 and Mercedes GLA raising the bar in recent years. Expect the base variant to be priced around ₹50 lakh (ex-showroom), with higher trims potentially stretching closer to ₹60 lakh.
In terms of positioning, the Q3 will target young professionals and small families who want a premium badge without the size or complexity of a larger SUV. Its focus on usability, quality, and performance will help it remain a strong contender.
The luxury SUV segment has become increasingly competitive, and buyers today expect more than just a badge. The new Q3 seems to tick most boxes with its grown-up styling, premium interior, improved practicality, and balanced performance. Audi has also been slowly regaining market share in India, and this new Q3 could be a critical part of that strategy.
If priced well and backed by strong after-sales support, this new-generation Q3 has what it takes to be more than just a safe choice. It might well become the go-to option for buyers looking for a luxury SUV that doesn’t compromise on either comfort or driving appeal.
