New-generation Hyundai Tucson: Details

Exterior design – Front

First off, let's talk about the exterior design of the next-generation Hyundai Tucson, more specifically the front-end design. At the front, the new SUV, like the current-generation Creta mid-size SUV and the more expensive flagship Santa Fe (sold internationally), gets a chunky, full-width LED DRL. As for the main headlight setup, it is located in the middle portion of the front bumper.

The SUV gets ten rectangular elements on the front grille, and both sides are flanked by L-shaped LED DRLs and quad LED headlights. On the centre lower portion of the front bumper is a thick brushed silver element, and just underneath it is the sensor for ADAS Level 2.

Overall, the new Tucson gets a very macho and rugged appearance at the front, but it still looks very modern and futuristic. Its upright nose and clamshell bonnet give it a tough appearance.

Side profile

Moving on to the side profile, the SUV gets chunky, squared-off wheel claddings and claddings on the doors as well, which again add to the ruggedness of this SUV. Other notable highlights of the side profile include large dual-tone alloy wheels, which look very modern, and the ORVM design is also very unique.

As for the door handles, it gets flush-type instead of traditional pull-type door handles. The window line of this SUV is very high and gets large windows, which will give the cabin a very airy feel.

Rear

As for the rear end, Hyundai will be keeping it clean with a single LED taillight strip, which looks very premium. There will be a large Hyundai emblem in the centre of the rear tailgate, and just underneath it will be Tucson lettering in bold. As for the rear bumper, the use of cladding will be continued like the side profile, and it will also get a massive silver skid plate in the rear with a unique texture.

Interior

At the moment, images of the interior of the new Tucson have not been shared. However, it has been reported that the company is planning to offer a very clean, simple, and premium design, which will be covered with leather and other soft-touch materials. There will be nine physical buttons, according to Head of Exterior Design at Hyundai, Simon Loasby.

Powertrain

Moving on to the powertrain side of things, the new Tucson in international markets will be launched with a hybrid-first strategy. There will be a mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and a new full-hybrid powertrain. Reportedly, the new hybrid system will comprise a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine combined with two electric motors.

One of these motors will be mounted on the gearbox, and the other will act as a starter generator. The exact power figure has not been revealed. However, it has been reported that it will produce around 380 Nm of torque. Whether this model will be launched in India has not been revealed. Also, if launched, which powertrain will be offered is currently unknown.
