The Hyundai Venue has a strong presence in the sub-four-meter SUV segment. It is a well-packaged product that offers good value for its price. It was first launched in 2019 and has now started to show its age, despite receiving a minor refresh in 2022. Hyundai is currently working on a generational update to the Venue, which will launch sometime this year. The new Venue has now been spotted on test, revealing key details of the interior design...

New-Generation Hyundai Venue Spied Testing

This video seems to be from some part of Tamil Nadu, most likely Chennai. Hyundai has plants running in Sriperumbudur and Irungattukottai. Mule sightings are common near manufacturing facilities. The video opens by showing several vehicles standing still at what looks like a traffic junction. Among them is a heavily camouflaged test mule of the new Venue.

As the video progresses, we can see the various design cues of the upcoming SUV. Look closely and you can see new dark-themed alloy wheels (in the video, these seem to be painted Black), a refreshed shark fin antenna, rear parking sensors, a radar for the ADAS suite at the front, and new LED headlamp units.

Hyundai seems to have reworked the lighting signatures. Both the LED DRLs at the front and the LED tail lamp cluster are different from those of the outgoing model. While the camo prevents us from getting a clear picture of their designs, it is clear that on the new model, the lights will pack more style and drama.

The video also points to the next-generation Venue getting new bumpers at the front and rear, a new, larger grille and slightly reworked body lines. The door handles are regular pull-type units.

The overall design now leans more towards those of the Creta and the new Alcazar. The 'Hyundai SUV' feel is kept safe, in styling.

This video also gives us a quick look inside. We can spot two high-quality displays inside- one for the infotainment and the other for instrumentation. The colour theme and layout seem to have improved much, on both. In comparison, the outgoing Venue has a more basic display and interface, especially on the driver’s display.

On the test car, the driver display shows a digital speedometer and tachometer. Hyundai will likely offer selectable display theme options on the new model. We can also see a central display are for essential vehicle information like tyre pressure, trip meter, fuel efficiency etc.

Even the outgoing Venue comes well kitted. You get the likes of a premium audio system, wireless charger, automatic climate control, ventilated seats, single-pane sunroof, and more. On the next-generation SUV, the feature list will only be improved. We expect it to feature a panoramic sunroof, and other interesting tech. More details of this are yet to surface.

New Venue Will Not Likely Have Powertrain Changes

From what we know yet, it is unlikely that Hyundai will revise the powertrain options on the new Venue. At present, the sub-compact SUV comes with three engine options- 1.0 turbo-petrol, 1.5 diesel, and 1.2 NA petrol. These offer the choice of manual and automatic transmissions as well. These engine-gearbox combinations are likely to be carried over to the new generation as well.

Interestingly, the current Venue doesn’t come with a diesel-automatic powertrain, whereas its Kia cousin- the Sonet does. Hyundai may consider adding this configuration to the lineup with the new model. The current model is priced in the range of Rs 7.94 lakh to Rs 13.62 lakh, ex-showroom. Due to the additiional features it comes with, the new model may command a small premium.
