Next-Gen Kia Seltos SUV Spied Testing Again In India: Shows Headlamps, Much Larger Size

The upcoming Kia Seltos has been spotted testing once again around Hyderabad, confirming that preparations are underway for its next major launch. The location is unsurprising given its proximity to Kia’s manufacturing facility in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. The sightings show a heavily camouflaged SUV, hinting at extensive changes that could reshape the model’s position in the compact SUV market.
Spy shots suggest that the new Seltos will grow in size compared to the current version. Industry sources indicate the SUV will be nearly 100mm longer than the present model, measuring around 4,465mm.
This would make it the longest in its class, even exceeding the Jeep Compass, which is slightly shorter. The increased length is expected to deliver more interior room, particularly for rear passengers, with an improved wheelbase and greater boot capacity that could approach 500 litres.
Visually, the new Seltos is likely to take on a boxier and more upright stance compared to the rounded shape of the current version. Early images show a stronger SUV profile that aligns with Kia’s latest global design approach seen on larger models such as the Sportage and Telluride. These changes could appeal to buyers looking for more presence and practicality in the same footprint.
The SUV is expected to feature Kia’s new design language called ‘Opposites United,’ already visible on its recent EV models. The front fascia appears to be moving away from the familiar tiger-nose grille to a more rectangular unit, flanked by vertical daytime running lights and updated headlamps. At the back, connected LED tail-lamps and a revised tailgate design are expected, giving the vehicle a more modern and premium look.
Inside, the Seltos is likely to borrow technology from Kia’s newer models. Although interior images are scarce, expectations include a larger integrated display that could combine the instrument cluster and infotainment system, wireless smartphone integration, and over-the-air updates.
Safety and driver-assistance features are expected to see a significant boost, with advanced systems like lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic emergency braking likely to be offered on higher trims.
The next-generation Seltos will move to a new platform, allowing for greater flexibility and improved safety. This will make it easier to accommodate different powertrains, including hybrids.
Current petrol and diesel options are expected to continue, but the addition of a petrol-hybrid variant is likely to be the biggest change. Early estimates suggest the hybrid could deliver fuel efficiency figures above 25 kmpl, which would place it competitively against rivals with strong hybrid systems.
The updated platform is also expected to bring improvements in refinement and ride comfort. Better insulation, structural rigidity, and crash safety are priorities, especially as global safety regulations tighten. For markets outside India, additional engine and drivetrain options, including all-wheel drive, could be part of the plan.
The increase in size, features, and technology points to a slightly more premium positioning for the new Seltos. Pricing is expected to move up by around Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000 compared to the current version, with the base variant likely starting near Rs 11.65 lakh. Kia will need to balance this upward move with the strong value-for-money reputation the Seltos enjoys.
The launch is expected in early 2027, with India likely to be among the first markets to receive the new model. This timing places the Seltos against updated competition from Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Kia’s hybrid option and modernised design could be key differentiators. Production will continue at Kia’s Anantapur plant, which will undergo updates to handle the new platform and added complexity.
