Mahindra is getting very close to the official debut of the next-generation Mahindra Bolero Neo. Over the last few months, we have seen a number of test mules of this SUV on public roads getting tested. Now, once again, we have another new spy video which shows the upcoming Mahindra Bolero Neo taking a U-turn on a public road. People are calling the new Bolero Neo the baby Land Rover Defender.

This video showing the Mahindra Bolero Neo test mule has been shared on YouTube by Gokul Kannan Kongu on their channel. As per the video, this particular Bolero Neo test mule was spotted testing in Kolli Malai, which is known as Kolli Hills in Namakkal district of Tamil Nadu. Like other test mules, this particular vehicle was also seen with full-body camouflage.

Soon-to-be-launched Mahindra Bolero Neo: Details

From the video, we can note that the road presence of this SUV is very similar to that of the much more expensive luxury SUV Land Rover Defender. To some, the overall silhouette may resemble the Ford Bronco, which the American automaker sells in the international markets. The new-generation Mahindra Bolero Neo boasts a very boxy and macho appearance.

It gets a tall bonnet, squared-off window lines, and large 18-inch alloy wheels, which are the same as the Mahindra XUV700. The overall length of this vehicle is short, which could make it a Hyundai Creta rival. Currently, Mahindra does not offer any direct rival to the mid-size SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and others.

At the front, this SUV will get round LED headlights, a signature Mahindra seven- or six-slat grille, and a bold front bumper. The SUV could also get an ADAS Level 2 sensor at the front along with a 360-degree camera. This time around, the Mahindra Bolero Neo will be made more premium to make sure that it becomes a worthy rival of the popular mid-size SUVs that come jam-packed with features.

On the side profile, as stated, the test mule was seen wearing 18-inch Mahindra XUV700’s diamond-cut alloy wheels. Now, whether the company will offer the same or new wheels is unknown. At the rear, we can expect LED taillights, and as seen in the video, it will continue to get a tailgate-mounted spare wheel.

Interior and features

Mahindra is aware of the fact that the SUVs that it offers and the other companies are offering are now feature-loaded. As a result of this, the upcoming Bolero Neo will also be getting a ton of premium features. The test mule which was spotted earlier was seen equipped with a panoramic sunroof. It will most likely also get a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument gauge cluster.

The upcoming model could also feature ADAS Level 2, which will come with features such as emergency braking, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and others.

Powertrain options

At the moment, the next-generation Mahindra Bolero Neo powertrain options have not been revealed. However, there are speculations that it could get the same engines as the current model. There are two diesel engine options — mHAWK75 making 75 PS of power and 210 Nm of torque, and a 1.5-litre diesel motor, which makes 100 PS of power and 260 Nm of torque on offer at the moment. However, it has also been reported that it could get more powerful engines from the Thar and Thar ROXX.
