Mahindra Bolero new generation: Details

First off, let's start with the main highlight of the upcoming new-generation Mahindra Bolero, which is the all-new NFA (New Flexible Architecture) platform. As per the reports, this new platform will be launched on August 15th this year at Mahindra's Independence Day event. This new monocoque platform will be a modular platform, which will be able to accommodate different powertrains.

Exterior design

Apart from this platform, another main highlight of the new Mahindra Bolero will be its bold new exterior design. A lot of people have drawn similarities in the design of the Bolero with the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG and the Land Rover Defender, luxury SUVs which are priced well above the Mahindra Bolero. At the front, the new-generation Bolero will now ditch the old rectangular headlights.

Instead of those, the SUV will now get Thar, Thar ROXX, and G-Wagen-styled round LED headlights. Apart from this, the front grille has also been fully changed, and it will now get vertical slats, which look similar to other Mahindra SUVs. The front bumper was almost fully covered. However, it was seen with a sizable rectangular air dam. Most likely, it will have a dedicated spot for fog lights as well.

Moving to the side profile, we can note the new-generation Mahindra Bolero will come equipped with a set of 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels. On this particular test mule, these 10-spoke alloy wheels were seen with camouflage as well. Other notable highlights of the side include flared-out wheel arches, a strong shoulder line, and a high window line.

The overall silhouette of the SUV is very boxy, which gives it an imposing appearance. It was also noted with ORVMs, integrated turn indicators, and its rear end looks slightly stubby. As for the details of the rear end of the Bolero test mule, it was fully covered. However, it has been noted that it will come with vertical LED taillights and a short rear window. There will also be a spare wheel mounted on the rear tailgate like the current model.

Interior highlights

Presently, there are not many detailed images of the interior of the upcoming Mahindra Bolero. However, it is expected to get modern features such as a large touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument gauge, automatic climate control, and many others.

Top-spec variants to get ADAS

Eagle-eyed viewers might have noted that the Mahindra Bolero test mule was equipped with a radar-based ADAS sensor at the front. This means that Bolero buyers will now be able to enjoy ADAS Level 2 features such as forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and lane keep assist.

It could also get auto emergency braking, a traffic sign recognition system, along with many others. It is expected that the new Mahindra Bolero will come standard with 6 airbags, rearview camera, speed alert, tyre pressure monitoring system, ABS, EBD, and traction control system.

Powertrain options

As per the reports, the company will carry forward the same mHAWK75 diesel engine, which makes 75 PS of power and 210 Nm of torque. Also, the Bolero Neo’s 1.5-litre diesel motor, which makes 100 PS of power and 260 Nm of torque, will also be retained. Both will come equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox. In the future, the company could also offer petrol, hybrid, and electric drivetrain options, as the NFA platform will be able to accommodate these drivetrains.
