All-New Toyota Fortuner Previewed Through Leaked Next-Gen Hilux Pictures

Toyota Fortuner holds a stellar reputation among Indian buyers. The SUV continues to post handsome monthly numbers, despite having a high price tag. It is expected to get a major update soon. Anticipations around the same are already high. Major restyling and updates are expected. A recent set of leaked images of the upcoming Hilux has hinted at the direction that the carmaker may take with the design of the new Fortuner. The Hilux and Fortuner have a lot in common- from styling cues to platform and powertrains. The leaked images can thus be a strong indication of the upcoming SUV's design.
The images seem to be from a brochure of the new Hilux. These were shared online by bfmsoficial on Instagram. The Hilux has been an extremely successful model across the globe. The next-generation model is being developed in Thailand, with contributions from Toyota's centres in countries like South Africa and Argentina. We hope to see the production form by the end of this year or in early 2026.
The images show the front, rear and side designs of the truck. It remains to be seen if this is a rendering of an official image from the brand. The front fascia gets a complete redesign. It gets a new, squarish, grille with a Black strip at the top, sleek headlamps, fair-sized air dams, vertical LED fog lamps and a front skid plate. The design is a clear departure from what was offered on the previous truck.
The side profile looks similar to that of the outgoing model. The door panels are almost the same. The alloy wheels are now finished in Grey/Black. Upon closer inspection, we get to spot changes in the window lines, body lines, wheel arch design and the lines on the deck.
The rear design has a slight resemblance to that of the outgoing model. The LED tail lamps seem to house reworked elements inside. The tailgate gets a Black element near its handle. The rear bumper now gets a sturdy design. The overall design seems to have evolved to something more rugged and appealing.
The Hilux and Fortuner have always shared design cues. If this tradition is to be continued, the upcoming Fortuner could borrow its styling from this. It could come with sleek LED headlamps, new grille design (which could be different from that of the Hilux), and reworked bumpers. It remains to be seen if the silhouette will resemble that of the outgoing model or not.
Both the SUV and the truck will come with updated cabin and feature list. There will be a stronger focus on occupant comfort and convenience. Toyota is expected to revise the feature list as well.
The latest reports from Japan suggest that the next-generation Hilux/ Fortuner could be based on the TNGA frame platform, GA-F, the same as the one used by the Land Cruiser 300 and 250. The current models are based on the carmaker's IMV platform.
With the new platform in place, the new Fortuner and Hilux will witness major upgrades to their suspension setups. The ride comfort and handling are both likely to witness major improvement.
The new-generation Fortuner and Hilux will likely be powered by the new-age hybrid diesel engine- 1GD-FTV type inline four, 2.8L turbocharged diesel engine featuring a 48V mild hybrid setup. This powertrain will likely produce over 204 PS. The hybrid setup is claimed to increase the fuel efficiency of this engine. Both manual and automatic transmissions are expected to be offered on the new Fortuner. The duo will also come with 4x4 hardware.
