Nissan's Renault Triber-Based Sub-4 Meter Compact SUV Launch Confirmed

Nissan Motor India today announced its future plans for the Indian market. As per the plan, the Japanese car manufacturer aims to expand its lineup in India in the coming years. As part of the expansion, Nissan plans to launch a 7-seater B-segment MPV in the Indian market. The MPV is expected to be launched in India in FY25.
The teaser for the B-segment 7-seater MPV was released by Nissan today, and many may find the design very familiar. It looks quite similar to the Renault Triber, which is already on sale in India and is currently the most affordable 7-seater MPV in the country.
Nissan claims that the upcoming 7-seater B-MPV will deliver unmatched value, quality, and comfort to its core customers—value-conscious buyers looking to maximize their purchase in this segment. The Nissan B-MPV will feature muscular styling that aligns with Nissan’s distinct design philosophy. It has been designed to ensure passenger comfort in all rows without compromising driving pleasure.
Nissan is likely to adopt a styling approach similar to the Renault Triber. Renault is already working on a facelift for the Triber, and we expect the upcoming Nissan MPV to be based on the updated version.
The concept image shared by Nissan shows a wide front grille with the Nissan logo in the center. The upper grille garnish appears to be finished in gloss black. The headlamps resemble those of the Triber and function as an extension of the grille itself. The front bumper of the Nissan MPV looks muscular in the images.
It features a silver-colored C-shaped cladding on the bumper, adding to its robust appearance. There is no clarity yet regarding the rear design of the upcoming MPV, but it is expected to retain elements seen on the Triber.
The Nissan MPV is likely to have a cabin design similar to that of the Renault Triber. Since Nissan is positioning it as a value-for-money product, developing an entirely new interior would not be a financially viable decision. Instead, Nissan is expected to borrow the same interior and introduce minor modifications to differentiate it from Renault's version.
The MPV will continue to offer features such as a touchscreen infotainment system, wireless phone charging, wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, a digital instrument cluster, push-button start/stop, and flexible third-row seats, among others.
Nissan’s upcoming MPV will be powered by a 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine. There have been rumors that Renault might introduce a turbocharged version of the same engine in the Triber, but an official confirmation from the manufacturer is still pending.
If Renault equips the Triber with a turbocharged engine, Nissan’s MPV is likely to receive the same in the future. The Nissan MPV will be available with a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox option. Production of the Nissan MPV will take place at the company’s manufacturing facility in Chennai.
Nissan is also planning to launch a rebadged version of the Duster SUV in the market in FY26. The SUV will compete with models such as the Hyundai Creta and Honda Elevate in this segment. Nissan aims to introduce four new products in its lineup by FY26 for Indian customers across the B, C, and D-SUV segments.
