The Japanese automotive manufacturer Nissan is all set to launch its highly anticipated Ariya electric SUV in India. Following the recent introduction of the X-Trail, the Ariya has become the second premium model to make its debut in the Indian market. The Nissan Ariya EV is a direct competitor to the Tesla Model Y and the Volkswagen ID.4 overseas. In the Indian car market, it is expected to sit above the X-Trail in Nissan’s India lineup. The Ariya will be sold as a full import, positioning it as a high-end offering in Nissan’s portfolio. Only 50 units have been brought in via the CBU route.

Design and Architecture

The current generation of the Nissan Ariya EV was unveiled globally back in 2020. The Nissan Ariya’s design remains faithful to the concept showcased in 2019. This electric SUV is built on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-EV electric vehicle architecture, which is also shared with the Renault Megane e-Tech.
