Design Changes

As suggested by previous teasers, the new Magnite gets a completely revamped front fascia. It gets refreshed headlamps, a new larger front grille with more intricate detailing, two prominent Chrome inserts outlining the fascia, a slightly retouched bonnet design, L-shaped LED DRLs, and a new front bumper with a large skid plate and Silver finisher.

On the side, the shape and design remain largely unchanged. The facelift, however, gets a set of new 6-spoke, 16-inch, dual-tone diamond-cut alloy wheels.

At the rear, the tailgate gets slight design revisions, and so does the rear windshield. The tail lamps remain unchanged in their shapes. These, however, get completely new LED elements inside. Other major exterior highlights are an integrated spoiler and shark fin antenna. There are a total of 13 colour combinations in the palette.

Interior Changes

The cabin gets extensive restyling and is very roomy. It offers the best-in-class space at the front. The overall layout hasn’t changed much. But it now gets a new colourway comprising Orange (Sunrise Orange Copper) and Black. Similar flashy colourways are seen on many global Nissan models. The new Magnite gets new seat upholstery that looks more upmarket and a new steering wheel with integrated controls. There are soft-touch materials in plenty. There is extensive use of leatherette with special heat insulation technology. The SUV also gets a new keyfob.

Boot space is 336L.

Powertrains And Specifications

The facelifted Magnite is available with the same powertrains as before. It gets two engine options- 1.0L naturally aspirated petrol, and 1.0L turbocharged petrol. The NA engine used to produce 71 hp power and 96 Nm on the pre-facelift car, while the turbo-petrol delivered 100 hp and 160 Nm.

The turbo engine could be had with a 5-speed manual transmission and CVT automatic transmission. The naturally aspirated engine came mated to AMT instead of the CVT, in addition to the manual box. The engines, transmissions and their outputs remain unchanged on the facelifted Magnite.

Facelifted Magnite’s Rivals

The Magnite has been a very important product for Nissan in India. It has been driving in fair volumes every month. The new Magnite is expected to build further on this popularity. In the Indian market, it continues to battle with the Hyundai Venu, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3XO etc. Some variants of Hyundai Exter and Tata Punch also pose competition. Renault Kiger- essentially the French manufacturer’s version of the Magnite, is also selling well, bringing some amount of sibling rivalry.

Nissan India’s Future Plans

Nissan has plans to bring more SUV models to our shores in the future. It aims to expand to a 5 model portfolio by 2026. Two new C-SUV models ( one of which could be a 7-seater) will be launched before 2026, in India. The manufacturer also has plans to bring an EV into the market. The electric vehicle will fall into the A/B segment, where the new Magnite also finds its place. It would thus be wise to expect it to be an EV based on the Magnite itself!

A stronger focus will be placed on exports as well. Both LHD and RHD versions of the Magnite will be manufactured in India, and exported to over 65 global markets.Nissan also has plans to expand its dealer and touchpoint network in the country. It will work towards expanding its visibility in various markets as well.
