Nissan Tekton: Finally Revealed

Exterior Design

First off, it's a CMF-B platform-based SUV. Let's start with the exterior design of the upcoming Nissan Tekton mid-size SUV. As mentioned, Nissan, with its new SUV, wants to aim at the already established players like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and others. All of these SUVs have bold and futuristic designs, so in order to give them a run for their money, Nissan has taken its design inspiration from its flagship SUV, the Patrol.

The front end of the Nissan Tekton gets a squared-off bonnet, and its main highlight is the connected LED DRL, which wraps around the sleek LED headlights. The centre is dominated by two horizontal lines that extend from one end to the other, and in the middle is the new Nissan logo.

The Tekton also gets a strong front bumper with silver elements on the sides. It can be noted that the SUV will be offered with four front parking sensors. Moving on to the side profile, the Patrol design inspiration is clearly evident, as it gets large multi-spoke alloy wheels, C-shaped door garnish, chunky wheel arch claddings, and claddings on the lower portion of the doors as well.

It will also get integrated silver roof rails, rear door handles hidden in the C-pillar, and a pronounced rear quarter panel. Overall, the side profile of this SUV looks very strong. Moving to the rear end of the Tekton, the SUV, like the front, gets a connected LED light bar that merges into the C-shaped LED DRLs. There is also an integrated rear spoiler and a chunky rear bumper, which add to the aggressive stance of this SUV.

Interior

Nissan, at the moment, has not unveiled the interior of the Tekton. However, it will be getting all the bells and whistles expected from a mid-size SUV currently in the market. Nissan will be offering it with a 10.1-inch touchscreen dominating the centre console, paired with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster.

Other notable highlights could include automatic climate control, rear AC vents, Type-C chargers, and a six-speaker sound setup. In terms of safety features, it could get six airbags, electronic stability control, and ADAS features like lane-keep assist and emergency braking.

Powertrain Options

The Nissan Tekton most likely in the Indian market will be a offered with a 1.3-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. This motor will be capable of producing 154 PS and 250 Nm of torque. Transmission duties on this engine might be handled by a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Another engine option likely for the Indian market is a mild-hybrid engine capable of producing 131 PS of power and 230 Nm of torque. Nissan and Renault might also offer CNG, strong hybrid, and electric versions of the Tekton and Duster in India in the future. The Nissan Tekton will be produced in the same factory as the Renault Duster in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
