Nissan X-Trail Bookings, Delivery Details Revealed: Brochure Scan Out

We recently drove the all-new Nissan X-Trail, and a detailed first-drive review is available on our website. With the X-Trail, Nissan plans to relaunch its CBU business in India. The SUV we drove is the fourth-generation X-Trail, and it will be launched in the market soon. Nissan will officially open bookings for the new X-Trail on July 26, 2024, and deliveries will commence in August. The booking amount for the all-new X-Trail is Rs 1 lakh.
Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director of Nissan Motor India, commented, “Our transformational journey in India for the brand has truly begun, and the strategy is based on three key pillars: expanding CBU operations, strengthening our domestic market presence, and expanding our reach in the export markets, making India operations future-ready. The launch of the all-new fourth-generation Nissan X-Trail marks the beginning of our product offensive in India. The relaunch of our CBU business will provide flagship and aspirational Nissan SUVs like the X-Trail, which embodies sophistication, versatility, and a penchant for a premium driving experience while adding to the resurgence of the Nissan brand in India.”
The Nissan X-Trail to be launched in India gets the Variable Compression-Turbo, the world’s first production engine to have this technology. This patented VC-Turbo engine varies the compression ratio from 8:1 to 14:1 on demand to deliver the right balance of performance and fuel economy.
In driving scenarios with relaxed driving and light acceleration, the engine switches to a high compression ratio for optimized fuel efficiency, while in situations where more performance is needed, the compression ratio is adjusted to a lower level seamlessly. This adaptability ensures that this engine delivers a finer level of NVH than conventional ICE engines.
The X-Trail will be offered with a 1.5-liter, three-cylinder, turbocharged engine that generates 163 PS and 300 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a third-generation XTRONIC CVT transmission. This engine also gets a 12V mild hybrid system. It is only available in a 2WD configuration.
The X-Trail features a premium urban SUV design. It is available in three colors: Diamond Black, Pearl White, and Champagne Silver. It comes with the signature V-Motion grille, split headlamps, 20-inch alloy wheels, wraparound tail lamps, and other premium elements. The minimal use of chrome elements actually enhances the SUV’s appearance.
Coming to the interiors, surprisingly, Nissan is only offering fabric seat options with this premium SUV in India. The cabin gets soft-touch material on the dashboard and doors.
It features automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, a 360-degree camera, auto headlamps and wipers, electric parking brakes, a tilt and telescopic steering wheel, and many more features. In India, the X-Trail is available as a three-row variant.
Unfortunately, it misses out on features like ventilated seats, electrically adjustable seats, ADAS, and leatherette upholstery. Nissan will be selling the X-Trail as a CBU, and it is expected to compete against the likes of the Hyundai Tucson and Jeep Meridian in the segment. Nissan is expected to announce the prices for this SUV soon, and we hope they do it right, especially with so many premium features missing.
