Nissan has officially resumed their CBU business in India with the all-new X-Trail. We drove the all-new X-Trail Gurugram few weeks ago and a detailed first drive review of the same is also available on our website. Nissan has now officially launched the fourth generation X-Trail in India officially. Nissan is selling the X-Trail as a CBU and the Japanese car manufacturer has launched this SUV at Rs 49.92 lakh, ex-showroom. It is in fact Rs 15 lakh more expensive than the 4×2 petrol variant of Toyota Fortuner, which is priced at Rs.35.02 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.

Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India said,
The X-Trail is being launched as part of Nissan’s brand building exercise in India. We feel they have priced the SUV quite steeply and they might have a hard time finding buyers. especially when they have other options.
X-Trail is a premium SUV which will compete with the likes of Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Meridian, Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tiguan in this hotly competitive segment.
Here’s our first drive review of this SUV,
The SUV does look premium on the outside. X-Trail comes with V-motion grille which gives it the typical Nissan look from the front. The SUV gets split headlamp setup and a grey coloured faux skid plate.
Coming to the side, the SUV gets multiple character lines which add to the muscle of the car. The X-Trails runs on 20 inch alloy wheels which look great on the SUV. The X-Trail offers 210 mm of ground clearance which is ample for an SUV.
At the rear we see wraparound LED tail lamps with Nissan logo and X-Trail badge on the tailgate. Just like the front, the rear also gets a faux skid plate with reflectors integrated in it.
The interior of the Nissan X-Trail looks premium at first glance. However as you analyse the cabin a detailed manner, you start feeling that things could ahave been better. For example, the SUV only comes with fabric seats. There is no electrical adjustment for driver and co-passenger seat and so on. The SUV gets multi-function steereing wheel, fully digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, touchscreen infotainment screen, panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charger and so on.
The Nissan X-Trail also offers 360 degree camera, auto headlamps and wipers but, misses out on popular features like the ADAS. It has now become a very common feature in SUVs from this segment. Nissan probably took this feature to ensure that the price is under check. We feel, Nissan is offering us the mid-spec variant of the X-Trail which misses out on few features.
Coming to the engine, the X-Trail is powered by a 1.5 litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged engine. This is world’s first SUV to get the VC turbo technology where the engine will return good efficiency and also power depending on the driver’s input. Nissan X-Trail is available in single variant and is offered in 3 colour options.
Bookings for the X-Trail had already started and the deliveries for the X-Trail will commence this month. Nissan plans to stay in the Indian market and will be launching more SUVs including an affordable EV in the coming years.
