Nissan’s future roadmap for India includes the launch of multiple SUV models. The most important of these, probably, is the new C-segment SUV, which is likely to be Nissan’s version of the upcoming Renault Duster. The carmaker had already revealed its plans to launch this product earlier this year. In the past few months, we even saw it undergo road trials here. We have now learnt that Nissan will unveil the SUV on October 7, 2025. The market launch is expected to happen in early 2026.

Nissan’s New C-SUV: What Do We Know Yet?

Teaser images from the manufacturer point to the new SUV being similar to the upcoming Duster, in dimensions. The design, however, will have notable differences. The Nissan version will have a distinctive front fascia, as suggested by the image. It will have Nissan’s signature front grille and a unique lighting signature.

The teaser shows the design of the LED DRLs and Chrome strips that adorn the front end. The vehicle will likely have front skid plates as well. The bold roof rails are also visible. The alloy wheels too will be different from those of the Duster.

The overall silhouette and boxy stance remain common between the two. The SUV is also expected to come with rectangular taillights, raked rear windshield, integrated roof spoiler, and a shark fin antenna. Nissan will give us a detailed tour of the SUV’s design on the 7th of next month.

Inside, the new Terrano (it remains to be seen if Nissan will keep the name on the new C-SUV) will borrow most of its features from the Duster. Like the Renault, it will have a large 10.1-inch touchscreen, 7-inch driver display, wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, ventilated seats, automatic climate control, electric parking brake, wireless charging, and a 360-degree camera. There will be a level 2 ADAS suite on offer as well.

Shared Underpinnings

Nissan’s new mid-size SUV will be underpinned by the same platform as the upcoming Duster- Renault-Nissan’s CMF-B. The powertrains will also come from the Renault SUV. Details of the same are yet to surface. We hope the manufacturers will offer both petrol and petrol hybrid engine options. As for the Duster, the petrol engines will be the first to reach our shores. The hybrids will join later.

In international markets, the Duster offers a 1.3L turbocharged petrol (EDC) engine and a 1.2L mild hybrid petrol. The former is the same engine that was found on the previous Duster that was sold here. Obviously, the Terrano too had this under its hood. Back then, it had an output of 160hp. The 1.2L petrol will be able to churn out 130hp. The strong hybrid powertrain will have an output of 140 hp.

Both manual and automatic transmissions will be on offer on the Nissan SUV as well. The company could also introduce 4x4 tech on higher variants.

It will be well-kitted even on the safety front. It will come with multiple airbags, electronic stability control, hill-hold assist, 360-degree camera, 3-point seat belts for all seats, seatbelt warning lamps, and more- just like the new Duster.

A Strong Fight Awaits The New Nissan SUV

In the Indian market, the new Nissan SUV will face stiff competition. In addition to the upcoming Duster, it will lock horns with the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, and the recently launched Maruti Victoris.

Given the competitive nature of this segment, Nissan will have to package the SUV well and price it right to secure a win in it.
