Billionaire Paytm Founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma Books A Mahindra XEV 9E
The Mahindra Automotive Born Electric SUVs, the BE 6 and XEV 9E, have made everyone their fan. Earlier today, the company officially started taking reservations for these SUVs, and a ton of people have booked them. Of these, one special name is Vijay Shekhar Sharma, the CEO and founder of One77 Communication, the company that owns the super popular brand Paytm. The billionaire recently shared a screenshot of the confirmation of his Mahindra XEV 9E booking.
In the past, Mr. Sharma has booked the Tesla Model3 after bookings were open for India. However, Tesla later put its India plans on hold, leaving Mr. Sharma and many others who had booked the Model3 in the lurch.
Paytm founder books himself a Mahindra XEV 9E
Vijay Shekhar Sharma, earlier this morning, shared a post on X in which he stated that he was waiting for the bookings to commence. He shared a screenshot of the official Mahindra Electric website, in which the timer was at 10 minutes before the bookings opened.
Following this, at around 9:11 AM, he shared another post in which he had finally booked the Mahindra XEV 9E. In the second post, the billionaire CEO of Paytm shared the screenshot of his official booking confirmation. Vijay Shekhar Sharma has opted for the top-of-the-line Mahindra XEV 9E Pack Three variant.
Also, he has chosen the Deep Forest shade, which is a lovely dark green shade. As for the battery pack option, Sharma has gone with the 79 kWh battery pack, which offers a claimed range of 656 km on a single full charge. The booking amount paid is Rs 21,000. Mahindra has also started taking reservations for the BE 6 mid-size electric SUV as well.
Mahindra XEV 9E: Details
The Mahindra XEV 9E is the brand’s current flagship electric SUV. It boasts the unique coupe SUV body style, which is becoming very popular in India at the moment. At the front, this SUV gets a full-width connected LED DRL and low-set LED headlights on the front bumper. It also comes equipped with 19-inch and 20-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels. As for the rear, the SUV gets a sloping roofline and a connected LED taillight.
In terms of the interior, the Mahindra XEV 9E comes equipped with the exclusive triple-screen layout. There are three 12.3-inch displays, one of which is in the middle and serves as the touchscreen infotainment system. Then there is a passenger screen, and the driver also gets a digital instrument gauge cluster offering a plethora of important information about the vehicle.
Mahindra has left no stone unturned when it comes to features. The XEV 9E comes equipped with MAIA – Mahindra Artificial Intelligence Architecture. It includes the super-powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 processor with 24 GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage. Additionally, it also supports Wi-Fi 6.0 and Bluetooth 5.2.
Other features of this SUV are Mahindra VisionX, the Augmented Reality HUD, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos, 16 million colors for the ambient lighting, a dual-zone automatic climate control system that offers PM 2.5 filtration as well, and Amazon Alexa along with Over-The-Air (OTA) updates.
Safety features of the XEV 9E include seven airbags, ADAS Level 2+ with features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-changing assistance, obstacle detection, and many others. It also gets a 360-degree camera, reverse and front parking sensors, and many others.
Mahindra XEV 9E: Powertrain options
Mahindra is offering the XEV 9E with two battery pack options. The first is the smaller 59 kWh battery pack, which offers a range of 542 km on a single full charge. Then there is the 79 kWh battery pack, which Vijay Shekhar Sharma has chosen. It offers a range of 656 km.
As for the electric motor, the lower trims come with a 228 bhp and 380 Nm motor. Meanwhile, the high-spec variants get the 282 bhp and 380 Nm torque-generating electric motor. The fun part about these motors is that all the power is sent to the rear wheels. The XEV 9E starts at Rs 21.9 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 30.5 lakh.
