Premier Padmini Neatly Converted Into Mini Cooper Is Just Wow [Video]
The Premier Padmini sedan was one of the most important and iconic vehicles in the Indian automotive market. Talking about icons, there was another vehicle which was equally important but not particularly in India – the Mini Mark I hatchback. Both of these vehicles shared a rich heritage and importance in their particular markets. So, in order to bring these two cars together, a few months ago, a video of Premier Padmini converted into a Mini Mark I was shared online. At a glance, a lot of people would mistake this converted hatchback for the real one.

Premier Padmini converted into Mini Mark I
The video of this particular Premier Padmini, which has undergone a stunning transformation to resemble a Mini Mark I hatchback, has been shared on Facebook by Sun Enterprises. The video shows the finished product, which was created by meticulous craftsmanship of the shop from South India. The four-door Premier Padmini sedan has been extensively modified to look like a two-door Mini Mark I hatchback.
The main highlight of this project is the removal of the roof and rear doors. The custom fabrication allowed the shop to create a two-door configuration while retaining its four-seater layout. Another standout feature of this modified Premier Padmini is the incorporation of modern elements. The shop stated that the entire cost of this transformation was approximately Rs 8 lakh. The shop added that customers can choose other additional options with a little extra cost as well.
Exterior modifications
In terms of the exterior modifications, it can be noted that the shop widened wheel arches to contribute to a broader body appearance. The body panels have also been adjusted to closely resemble the appearance of the Mini Cooper, particularly the earlier-generation hatchbacks. At the front, the car also boasts a blacked-out grille, aftermarket headlamps featuring projector lamps with LED DRLs.
On the side profile, apart from the removal of the rear two doors, we can note a few different changes. The shop has added aftermarket alloy wheels with a dual-tone diamond-cut design, enhancing the overall aesthetics of the vehicle. Meanwhile, on the rear, the converted hatchback gets aftermarket LED tail lamps and blacked-out elements. The major highlight on the rear is the absence of the trunk which came in a standard Premier Padmini sedan.
Interior modifications
Inside the cabin, just like the outside, the shop has made significant changes. It can be noted that the seats have been given a new black and red leather theme. Apart from this, the dashboard has been updated with new dials, and a fresh new sporty steering wheel has been installed, giving it a modern touch.
