Sir Ratan Tata, who was one of the greatest business tycoons, philanthropists, and super kind humans, left the world on October 10, 2024. However, what did not leave with him were the deeds that he did for the country and his close ones. In addition to these, he also left his will, and in this will, a number of his close ones were named and given substantial wealth. Of these, one name that has received a massive amount of Rs 500 crore has been revealed. And no, it is not Shantanu Naidu, his personal assistant. Rather, it’s someone whom Ratan Tata had known for six decades.

Ratan Tata Left Rs 500 Crore to This Man

Recently, Ratan Tata’s will was opened, and it revealed a surprising name that received Rs 500 crore from Mr. Tata. That name is Mohini Mohan Dutta. For those who may not be aware, Dutta was a trusted associate of Ratan for more than six decades; however, he was not widely known by the public.

Dutta is also an entrepreneur who has worked his entire life in the travel sector. Originally from Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, Mohini Mohan Dutta and his family owned Stallion, a travel agency that merged with Tata Services (part of the Taj Group of Hotels) back in 2013.

Prior to the merger, 80 percent of Stallion was owned by the Dutta family, and the remaining 20 percent was owned by Tata Group. Dutta also served as the director of TC Travel Services, and one of his daughters worked at Taj Hotels till 2015 and later at Tata Trusts until 2024.

Ratan Tata’s Relationship with Mohini Mohan Dutta

As mentioned, the relationship between Ratan Tata and Mohini Mohan Dutta was six decades old. Mr. Tata met Dutta for the first time back in Jamshedpur when he was just 24 years old. They both met at the Dealers’ Hostel. Dutta also publicly spoke at Ratan Tata’s funeral about his bond with the late business tycoon. He stated, “He helped me out and really built me up.”

Ratan Tata’s Will

Apart from Mohini Mohan Dutta, Ratan Tata also had a number of other beneficiaries in his will. It was reported that Ratan Tata waived the entire education loan of Shantanu Naidu, who was his millennial personal assistant. Additionally, Ratan Tata also gave his stake in Goodfellows, a startup founded by Naidu that aimed at helping elderly people.

In addition to Naidu, Ratan Tata’s will also mentioned his butler, Konar Subbiah, along with his cook, Rajan Shaw. It must be stated that the exact details of the sum or things left by Mr. Tata for these people have not been revealed publicly. What’s even more interesting is that Ratan Tata also specifically made provisions in his will to facilitate “unlimited” care for his dog, Tito, a German Shepherd, under the supervision of his cook, Rajan Shaw.

Ratan Tata’s half-sisters were also named as beneficiaries in his will. Currently, it has been reported that both sisters are considering donating their share of the inheritance to charities set up by Mr. Tata. Lastly, Sir Ratan Tata’s will also mentions that he had extensive property and asset holdings, including a 2,000-square-foot beach bungalow in Alibaug, a two-storey residence on Juhu Tara Road in Mumbai, and fixed deposits worth Rs 350 crore.
