Renault is set to reveal the production form of the much-awaited Boreal (7-seater Duster) later today. Together with its five-seater counterpart, the Boreal will play a key role in reviving Renault sales in India. Ahead of the official global premiere, we have managed to have an exclusive look at the Boreal's design.

The official reveal is scheduled to happen in Brazil. The Boreal is essentially the seven-seater version of the Duster, and will soon be launched in India as well. The SUV shown here is finished in a shade of Cyan.

The Boreal seems to follow the French carmaker's modern design philosophy. The bodywork has smooth, curved surfaces and a bunch of sharp lines. There is a sense of sharpness to the headlamp design. The headlamps, again, are LED units, featuring unique styling. The front fascia has a full-width Gloss Black panel connecting headlamps on either side. The grille is good-looking as well. The fascia also has a large air dam.

The vehicle showcased at the event has a dual-tone colourway. The roof and side view mirrors wear Black. It is clear from the side view that the vehicle will get new alloy wheels (likely 19-inch units) and carefully drawn body lines.

The actual length of the vehicle isn't clear at the moment. It is clearly longer than the Duster sold in global markets. You can also see a uniquely shaped quarter glass at the rear. The roof rails are finished in Satin Silver. It remains to be seen if these are functional. Satin Silver trims can also be seen near the quarter glass.

Another interesting detail to note here is that the rear door handles are integrated into the C-pillar. Rugged Black claddings around wheel arches and along the sides have been standout features of the Duster's design. The same seems to have been carried over to the Boreal as well. The seven-seater has an impressive road presence.

The production-ready Boreal seems to have borrowed many of its design cues from the Dacia Bigster sold globally. The alloy wheel design seems to resemble that on the Bigster.

Renault Boreal: Expected Interior, Features And More

Details of the interior design and feature list are sparse at the moment. We will get to know more about these, once Renault unwraps the SUV later today. It seems safe to expect a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, selectable terrain control modes (Snow, Mud/Sand, Off-Road, Eco and Auto drive), and level 2 ADAS on the Boreal.

Renault Boreal Specifications

The seven-seater Duster will be based on the same platform as the Duster- Renault's CMF-B. Renault is expected to adopt a multi-powertrain approach in India. It is likely that the Boreal will be powered by the Duster's 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. This powertrain will make around 151bhp and 250Nm. In Brazil, the vehicle will also offer the option of a flex-fuel engine. It remains to be seen if the carmaker will bring this to India.

It remains a possibility that Renault would offer a strong hybrid powertrain in India. 4x4 hardware remains less likely to appear on the India-spec.

Renault Boreal: India Launch Plans

In its second innings, Renault will launch the new-generation Duster first, sometime in the first quarter of 2026. The Boreal will follow. It will be made in the carmaker's Chennai plant and will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV700. Nissan is expected to launch a badge-engineered version of it, later.
