Renault Kiger Facelift Teased Ahead Of Official Launch

Renault’s sub-four-metre SUV is finally getting the facelift it has needed for some time, with an official teaser confirming a 24 August reveal. The short video shows the refreshed Kiger in a striking lime-green shade, with redesigned C-shaped LED tail-lamps glowing in the dark.
The most noticeable changes are at the front. The new Kiger gets a bolder grille finished in gloss black, featuring a prominent two-dimensional Renault diamond similar to the one on the updated Triber. Slimmer bi-function LED headlamps now sit lower in the bumper, while a full-width LED daytime running light strip runs along the bonnet line. A chunkier front skid plate and a bonnet with stronger creases add to the SUV stance.
The side profile remains familiar, with unchanged metal panels, but Renault has added newly designed 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, a shark-fin antenna and gloss-black mirror caps. At the rear, a revised bumper moves the number plate recess lower, making room for the new logo and KIGER lettering on the tailgate. Clear-lens LED brake lamps replace the smoked units, aligning the design more closely with Renault’s global Clio.
Inside, the layout is largely the same but the materials and features have been upgraded. There is now a frameless auto-dimming mirror, illuminated window switches, and a soft-touch dashboard in charcoal grey. The eight-inch infotainment screen carries over but gets brighter, sharper graphics. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard, alongside a 360-degree camera and a cooling duct for the wireless charger.
A key highlight is safety: six airbags and ISOFIX mounts are now standard across all variants. This is a significant move in a segment where buyers increasingly value crash safety ratings when making purchase decisions.
There are no major changes under the bonnet. The 72 PS 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol and the 100 PS turbo-petrol continue, paired with a five-speed manual, AMT for the base engine, and CVT for the turbo. The engines have been recalibrated to meet BS-VI Stage-II norms and are now E20 petrol compatible. This means they can run on 20 per cent ethanol-blended fuel with minimal impact on fuel efficiency.
With the added safety kit, upgraded infotainment hardware and imported LED units, prices are expected to rise by ₹50,000–₹70,000 depending on the variant. Even with this increase, the Kiger is likely to remain much more affordable than rivals like the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon and Kia Sonet, which should help Renault maintain its value-for-money positioning. The brand is aiming for monthly sales of around 3,000 units once the facelift reaches showrooms ahead of the festive season.
The teaser has already generated interest online, suggesting that a strong design update can bring attention back to a model that is actually a pretty solid option for value seekers in compact SUV segment as well those seeking a more jazzy alternative to premium hatchbacks.
