Renault Kwid's Limited Anniversary Edition Launched: Brings Premium Features To Entry Segment

Renault has marked ten years of the Kwid with a special Anniversary Edition limited to 500 units. Alongside this launch, the company has refreshed the entire Kwid range with new names, added safety equipment, and broader styling choices. The changes are designed to keep the hatchback relevant in India’s competitive entry-car space.
The Anniversary Edition is priced at ₹5.14 lakh for the manual and ₹5.63 lakh for the Easy-R AMT. Positioned above the Techno variant but below the Climber, it introduces a unique slot in the line-up.
Visual touches set it apart: dual-tone colour schemes in Fiery Red with a black roof and Shadow Grey with a black roof, yellow grille highlights, and special anniversary badging. Black Flex Wheels give it a sportier profile while being lighter and more practical than steel wheels. Inside, illuminated scuff plates, puddle lamps projecting the Kwid logo, and customised seat upholstery provide a more premium experience for a small car.
The most significant changes affect the wider Kwid family. Every variant now comes with three-point seatbelts for all passengers. This closes a gap that still exists in some competitors and brings the Kwid closer to safety expectations in higher segments.
The Climber variant now offers six airbags as standard. This is notable because most cars in the sub-₹6 lakh bracket do not offer such a comprehensive setup. The combination of dual front, side, and curtain airbags makes the Climber one of the safest choices among entry-level cars.
Renault has restructured the Kwid range with simpler, easier-to-understand names. The earlier RXL has become Evolution, RXT is now Techno, while Climber keeps its identity as the rugged-looking version. This naming change eliminates confusion and shows a clear step from entry to premium.
Prices start at ₹4.29 lakh for the Authentic manual, which remains one of the most affordable new cars in India. The Evolution AMT opens at ₹4.99 lakh, while the top-end Climber dual-tone is priced at ₹5.99 lakh. The Anniversary Edition fits neatly in between, offering exclusivity without pushing prices to the top of the range.
The Anniversary Edition introduces new colour options, but Renault has not limited these to the special model. Fiery Red and Shadow Grey with black roofs are now available on regular trims as well. This decision allows more buyers to enjoy a premium dual-tone look without needing to pay for the special edition.
Technology remains consistent across the range. The Kwid retains its touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity and navigation. These features meet expectations of younger buyers who rely heavily on smartphones and want similar functionality in their cars.
By restricting production to 500 units, Renault is creating exclusivity. Special editions often carry stronger resale appeal, and the Kwid Anniversary Edition could attract interest from both first-time car buyers and collectors of limited-run models.
At the same time, the updates across the regular lineup are arguably more important. They ensure the Kwid continues to compete against newer entrants like the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 and S-Presso while offering features these rivals may not match, especially on safety.
The Kwid Anniversary Edition is not just a celebration but also a reminder that entry-level cars can no longer rely only on low pricing. With safety regulations tightening and customer expectations rising, features like six airbags and three-point seatbelts across all trims help the Kwid stay relevant.
For buyers, the spread of ₹4.29 lakh to ₹5.99 lakh covers a wide range of budgets. The Anniversary Edition offers a premium feel within the same compact footprint, while the standard range now brings meaningful safety upgrades to everyday models.
