Renault Launches Facelifted Kiger in India Starting at Rs 6.29 Lakh

Renault India on Sunday launched the facelifted version of its compact SUV, the Kiger, with prices starting at Rs 6.29 lakh and going up to Rs 11.29 lakh (ex-showroom). The update marks the Kiger’s first major refresh since its debut in 2021 and is part of the French carmaker’s “Rethink” transformation strategy. This facelift is very important for Renault - The Kiger has been selling without any significant updates for a long time, and this one is long overdue.
The 2025 Kiger is offered in four trims, Authentic, Evolution, Techno and Emotion, with both 1.0-liter naturally aspirated and 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol engines carried over from the outgoing model. The naturally aspirated motor produces 72 horsepower and is available with a 5-speed manual or AMT, while the 100-hp turbo unit comes with a 5-speed manual or CVT. Renault said the CVT now offers stepped shifts to reduce the rubber-band effect, and multiple drive modes, including Eco and Sport, are available.
Design changes include a revised black grille with the new Renault logo, reshaped bumpers, updated LED headlamps and fog lamps, and newly designed 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. A new dual-tone Oasis Yellow paint option joins the palette, alongside a green shade with contrasting roof and pillar finishes.
Inside, the SUV features a new black and grey theme, ventilated seats, an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, a 360-degree camera, auto headlamps and wipers, and a 29-liter glove box. Renault claims best-in-segment cabin space, with 222 mm of rear knee room and a 405-liter boot. NVH levels have also been improved with additional insulation.
Safety has been enhanced with six airbags now standard across all variants, along with electronic stability control, hill start assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and rear parking sensors. The functional roof rails can carry up to 50 kilograms.
The Renault Kiger has a 4-star safety rating for adult occupants and a 2-star rating for child occupants in Global NCAP crash tests. These ratings are for the last generation Kiger, and as this one is just an update, we can assume they remain the same.
Prices for the facelift are up only marginally over the outgoing Kiger, with the entry variant Rs 14,000 higher and the top-spec turbo CVT Rs 6,000 higher. Introductory pricing sets the Techno CVT and Emotion turbo-manual variants at Rs 9.99 lakh.
The refreshed Kiger continues to compete in India’s crowded sub-4-meter SUV segment against the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Toyota Taisor, Maruti Fronx and Skoda Kushaq. Also included in the competition is its sibling, the Nissan Magnite facelift, which is selling in decent numbers.
