Renault To Launch 5 New Cars In The Next 2 Years: One Car Launching Within 3 Months

The French automotive giant Renault has recently inaugurated its new design centre in India. It is located near Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and it is Renault’s largest design house outside of Paris, France. Renault has revealed that this plant has been set up with an investment of Rs 14.68 crore. With this new design centre, the company aims to bring in new talent from India and design new vehicles for the brand, which will help it in increasing its market share. Along with this, the company has also revealed the details of its five new models lined up for India.
The first model which will be launched in India by the French automaker Renault will be the facelifted iteration of its popular, affordable seven-seater SUV, Triber. This time around, the Triber will be getting a number of cosmetic updates, including new front and rear bumpers, new headlights and taillights, and a set of new alloy wheels.
Apart from these, on the inside, the new Renault Triber is expected to get an updated infotainment system, which will most likely be larger in size and could come with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The company could also be changing the overall dashboard layout and design of this affordable MPV. Safety features will also likely see a big update.
In terms of the powerplant, Renault is expected to offer the new Triber with the same 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine generates 72 bhp and 96 Nm of peak torque. It is available with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox option. It is believed that a new 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine option could be included in the lineup. Launch could take place in the coming three months.
The Renault Kiger sub-compact SUV has also not seen a major update in the recent past. So, in order to take on rivals like the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, newly launched Skoda Kylaq, and others, the company will be giving the Kiger a facelift. This new model is expected to get a refreshed design, sharper LED headlights, new alloy wheels, and sportier front and rear bumpers.
Apart from these, the interior of the Kiger might also get a big update with a new dashboard layout, better quality materials, and tech updates. The model could also get ADAS features and minor mechanical updates. Powertrain options will most likely remain the same, and the launch of this new model is expected to take place in the second half of this year.
One of the most anticipated launches of 2025 from Renault is the new-generation Duster mid-size SUV, which will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and others. The new Duster will be based on the CMF-B platform and will get an extremely modern yet rugged exterior design. It will boast Y-shaped LED DRLs, chunky claddings, large alloy wheels, and a macho stance.
On the inside, the 2025 Duster will get a 7-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, automatic climate control, AC vents with Y-shaped design elements, a flat top-and-bottom steering wheel with multi-function buttons, and more.
Engine options of the new Duster will include a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine. Both engines are expected to be offered with manual and automatic transmission options.
Based on the new-generation Duster, Renault will also launch the seven-seater iteration, which will be called the Bigster. This model will get a similar exterior and interior design as the Duster. However, it will be getting an additional third row of seats. This model will take on rivals like the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, upcoming Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara seven-seater, and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder seven-seater.
Last but not least, Renault is also planning to expand its lineup with an affordable electric vehicle. For this, it will be electrifying the Kiger sub-compact SUV. This new model will take on rivals like the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400. The exact details of the EV powertrain of this upcoming mass-market EV from Renault have not been revealed.
